Did I miss something Kyle, Carson, Jay and the WA Community?

I have always been told that self promotions aren't allowed here at WA, is that not the case anymore?

I see links all over on Wealthy Affiliate now, links to websites, links to Social Media Sites, links to Videos, Links, Links and more Links!

Has anyone else noticed the huge amount of links being shared now at WA?

I have been a member at WA since June 2015 and have always been told that they aren't allowed anywhere except upon our own profile and even on our own profile page, only at the bottom right side where it says "Follow Me On"

Is that not true anymore?

Did I miss something Kyle, Carson, Jay and the WA Community?

I feel that many are allowed to bend and ven break these rules but if some of us were to do exactly the same thing that our write privileges would be revoked immediately!

Does anyone else feel this way?

Shouldn't we all be held to the same rules and standards?

Did I miss something Kyle, Carson, Jay and the WA Community?

Ok, I have been here at wealthy affiliate for 6 weeks now and the only rule I remember is you do not promote anything on WA that is not WA. This is a BIG DO NOT DO!

Affiliate links need to stay within your content on your web pages.

The community shares links to their websites as part of the give and take thread. This is common.

The only thing that I have noticed that some people are promoting existing businesses within their profiles. I have not connected with those as I question their motives for getting into WA.

Maybe there should be a training module specifically on the do's and don'ts within the WA community.

However, I can tell you that as a newbie here, there is a lot of information as part of the training that you first absorb and it is hard to remember one statement out of a 15-25 minute video.

I am constantly referring back to training modules as I create my websites and content.

I firmly believe in abiding by the rules. We need to clearly state the rules in a form people will easily remember them.

Tony, I think that after folks started seeing Kyle's post from several years ago: , it opened a floodgate.

Even on this posts, the rules say give 3 comments on website pages - then you can post your own website page for comments.

But, this post has seen almost 191,000 replies. That's right! 191 thousand! And, people were complaining that their page links were getting lost - like a needle in a haystack.

So, they just started posting the web page links, asking directly for comments, and promising return comments - even though this was against Kyle's rules.

And after that, it was happening everywhere! Can someone say, "snowball effect?"

I hope that either Kyle or Cason will comment on this, Tony. I have been seeing it more as well and has caused me a lot of confusion.

I make sure to share Kyle's post "Spam, Is a No, No!", but there's a part of me that also wonders, "Did I miss something?"

Hi Tony, I don’t believe I am doing this but I’m curious, where are all of these links for users showing up?
I wonder if some of these key rules are not coming across as strong for new users. For example, I didn’t catch that the open conversation for comments (vs. The official comments page) you have to cleave three to ask for one. I cannot recall reading that anywhere.

Are some of these rules spoken in the boot camp? I’ve not done that so maybe that’s where I would have read about this?

When you go to write a new blog post here on WA down at the bottom is a little link that says something about blogging on WA. I just looked at it and completely forgot what it said, but I did copy the rules that it states so here you go:

"Here are some simple rules for blogging here at WA:

Please don't spam or promote anything here at WA. That ain't cool. We are a spam free community and we want to keep this a safe place for everyone to interact and get help. Promotions are to be left for your external websites.

Keep religion and politics out of your posts. Everyone comes from different walks of life and you know how fired up people can get about these topics. It is best to stay away from posts like this for the better nature of the community.

Again, on your external websites is totally cool for these sorts of topics.

Keep the conversation on topic. Your blog here is to share your experiences within WA and with creating your business online. Your website is for posting "niche" related content, so keep anything that is relevant to your niche there. You don't want to waste your awesome niche content by posting it somewhere other than your site.

Don't copy and paste content from elsewhere. Copying content from other sources, even if it is your own, isn't of benefit to the community.

Be nice, play nice. Do to others and speak to others as you would want them to speak to you. Should be easy enough right?"

Hope this helps

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me. I don't recall seeing this but there is so much information I am sure this isn't the only thing I have missed. Appreciate it!

I am definitely not doing anything of that sort. That's a relief! I have been here for 6 weeks and there is so much information and so much to learn. I certainly hope that if I was doing something wrong, a more seasoned veteran would care enough to let me know.

Thank you for this information!

No problem! I'm more than happy to help.

I understand. It was definitely overwhelming when I started out, too. It still is sometimes with all the new training and new posts going on, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

Have an awesome day/weekend wherever you are!

I see it quite often in live chat, and occasionally in blogs here.

thanks Joe Jr. After Michelle/Anne's reply, I realized that we were talking about posts/links in blogs and such. I have not blogged yet in here but I am very thankful to know what to avoid.

I am still fairly new here, however I thought this was a rule but being unsure I haven't mentioned it. I have given it out to others to return a favor for them. Other than the only time I think I have used mine is when I was trying to show someone an example. Like one person was writing very long paragraphs and was not understanding how to break it up more. So I left my site for him to see as an example.
