I've tested using Linux before but somehow none of my customers use it. All of them are stuck with windows and in order to solve their problems I've to stick with them too.

Hi Warner,
Yes I'm also a Linux fan and like Marcel, am using a dual booting system which gives me the best of both Windows 10 and Linux.

Recently I've also become quite impressed by the performance of Win 10 which I accessed via a free upgrade, but am still very fond of Linux particularly the version I'm using which is Linux Mint LTR (Rebecca , a Long Term Release)
What particularly resonates with me is the fact that Linux Mint is truly open source and is stable and robust.

Sadly the latest project which is (LTR Rosa) has recently been attacked and their server compromised by some twisted lowlife individuals seeking to plant malware and apparently operating out of Bulgaria…… If you're new to Linux and thinking of using it, my best advice for your safety and security would be to visit the official Linux Mint website for a full update by Clem on the situation.

Unfortunately we will always have these cyber criminals with us and need to practice vigilance at all times!

Kind regards,

~Arthur

Thanjs for sharing your experience. Another question: you are very positive concerning Windows 10. What is in your oinion better than Windows 7?

Hello Warner,

I am actually getting used to Windows 10 although I have always had a soft spot for Windows 7
I do enjoy the challenge of learning how to use new software.

Windows 10 has its own learning curve and does take some getting used to as it constitutes a bit of a paradigm shift!
Apparently it was chiefly designed for use on Tablets but I'm using it on my PC as well as my laptop, it works well, and I do enjoy using the tiled screen!

It certainly seems to operate faster and smoother than Windows 7!
…… so I guess there is no going back as far as I'm concerned!

By the way, if you do decide to take advantage of the Windows free upgrade, there is also an option to revert back to Windows 7 if you're not happy with the outcome of the upgrade!

Kind regards,
~Arthur

PS. My personal insight is that the Windows people are learning from Linux! Lol! :-)

I use Firefox or Chrome with Linux Mint and edit my website with it, manage my graphics and other files, etc...

Years ago I worked with it but found it not so easy. I think it is now not as difficult as earlier?

In many cases the linux distros are functional out of the box. You can always test by booting up to a live disk and test it before installing.

I unfortunately do not use Linux. I have been considering making my new computer build dual bootable to windows and Linux/Unix. All the hardware is up and running just haven't put the software on.

Nicole my best advice if you are intending to do this, is to have a good friend standing by to assist you, as there are still many issues that may be a challenge when installing Linux. :-)
Kind regards,
Arthur
