I am looking for an alternative email to Gmail because Google is starting to ask me for more and more info or locking me out of my accounts.

Just today (after years of having accounts) Google is telling me "to meet legal requirements you need to provide your birth date within 14 days or your account will be disabled and your content erased within 30 days".

On a number of other occasions Google has not let me access my account without providing a verification code which they send to my phone in a text. Two step authentication is fine however, sometimes when I enter the verification code that Google themselves texted me I am told my verification code is incorrect and am Not given access to my email account.

There is no one at Google to go to for help. Fortunately, I have found if I use a different device (like my phone), I have been able to access my email account. A couple of hours or days later if I try to access my email account via my laptop again I can.

I cannot deal with the random blocking of my email accounts any longer and need to find a new email provider I can rely on and is secure.

Do any members have any suggestions? Obviously, I would like a free email service like Google or Yahoo, but it appears the days of free email are going away.

I know we have email availability connected to each WA domain, but have yet to use them.

What are your thoughts on the functionality of the email service provided with our WA domains?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have used Hotmail (Microsoft Outlook essentially) for a couple of decades without any serious issues, Dave!

It is free too, btw!

Hotmail and Outlook are not secure. They track and archive your emails like Google does for their financial gain.

Well, that's good to know, but, I've never had any of the problems like Gmail has given me, Dave! So, I only have that fact to go on right now!

That's a deep, deep concern you raised here.
They seem to have us all by the .... balloons.

If they pull this one off with blocking accounts for whatever petty reasons, like show us you're vac's documents, there could be alot of added frustrastion and chaos.

Your question made me re-think, as we're all tied to our emails and gmails, the amount of information and communication we need them and they know this... i would be very suprised if they didnt start charging for them soon, i've always wondered why on earth is this service for free, it seems like a 50 yearor 150 agenda has been hidden from us.

I'd like to know the answer to this also, in preparation for the carpet being pulled from under our feet.

I am with you. They do have us by our ...."Balloons"! LOL!

I may not have mentioned it in my initial post, but what broke this camel's back is they don't just want me to input my birth date.

They want me to prove I am who I say I am by either submitting a photo image of my driver's license or they want me to send them my credit card information to prove who I am.

Google says they require this information to "comply with law". They then state it has something to do with an age requirement for minors to have an email account and that is their justification for requiring credit card info if you don't have a driver's license I suppose.

And you are right. Next they will require a vaccine passport or your DNA to access your email.

The one thing I do know is I have NEVER had an issue with my Gmail accounts until this Covid Pandemic arrived.

This is BAD.
My drivers licence is held up in a que to be processed and renewed address, I've been waiting since last year July 2021 and still the DVLA havent returned my licence along with thousands of other people because of the CONVICT19 pamper-demic.
Something sinister is definetly brewing up for us all.

I believe this is same with other providers as well as far as authentication and for your security

I have no issue with authentication and security. What I have a problem with is Google keeps asking me for more personal information.

I have had Gmail accounts for many years and NEVER been locked out of my email accounts.

I never opted into two step authentication, but Google now randomly sends me a two step authentication code requiring me to enter it to access my email.

What really gets me is at times when I enter the code I get a message stating the code is invalid! And yes.... I re-enter the code several times to be sure I am not making a mistake when entering the code.

The other issue that disturbs me is now days every time I login to my Gmail I get a text message telling me some one has accessed my account from a particular location and from a "New" device.

What disturbs me about this is I login from the same devices I have been for years. They are Not "New" devices!

Additionally....I have turned off the Google Geolocater in the privacy portal numerous times, however Googlle still knows exactly where "some one" accessed my account from. Then when I go back to my privacy tab I find the Geolocater has magically been turned on again without my permission.

Today (as I mentioned in my original question), I tried to access one of my email accounts and a Google message popped up on my screen stating Google wants me to verify my birth date. It also stated IF I do NOT verify my birth date...my account will be locked permanently in 14 days and all my emails and account deleted in 30 days.

Now if they just wanted me to enter my birth date I might. However, that is not ALL they require. They want me to either send them a photo image of my driver's license or they want me to send them my credit card information to prove who I am.

That my friend is where they broke this camel's back!

No way in hell I am sending a photo of my driver's license and definitely not sending them my credit card information! Hell! I have no proof of who is sending me this requirement. How do I know my email account has not been hacked?

Unfortunately, I have no idea of how to contact Google support to confirm if Google is the one requiring such information.

What I do know is my issues with Google began after the Covid Pandemic began.

What concerns me is what will they require next? Maybe my DNA or will it be a copy of a vaccine passport they will hold my email account hostage for?

It hasn't happened to us yet, i.e., asking for personal information.

If you use a VPN or any Cyber Security software to log in to Gmail, better disconnect. Once logged in, you may turn back on.

If not, then ignore.

Also, if you use mobile to register a few of them, the mobile number becomes useless after a while. So you have to get a new sim.

New device email cannot be avoided; if you logged in someplace, I would not worry then. However, again useful for security.

You'd have to check your Geolocator settings.

We have entered our birth date but have not yet uploaded a photo ID.

It is helpful to have your passwords saved in a folder and have a backup email address to your accounts if these things happen.

You must have been flagged somehow for them to require such information.

I understand your concern; however, what's the alternative? Perhaps keep backing up email correspondence data and all others.

However, if anything, I always login source | main site.

My sincerest apologies for your troubles.

If there's anything else I can find, I will share.

Appreciate your notes so much.
