Hi Everyone...
Hope you all are doing great?
Would really love to have your Opinion / advice on this..
I got an email from someone with a request to review his product on our site
He claims he just created this affiliate marketing course on how to build a niche website surrounding Amazon Associate.
A step by step course that is beginner friendly without the "tuffs and fluffs" (his words), and he has been an affiliate marketer for over ten years now.
I just had a brief run through his site, and from what I've seen so far, it looks legit, but won't conclude until I have full access. (Which he says he will give us if we review his product).
I just want to know from you guys if there are any kind of rules, tips or guidelines that one needs to follow in doing something like this?
Secondly, if we choose to review it, will it be okay to still recommend WA within the review?
If yes, is it necessary to let him know we will include our own recommendation before accepting his proposal?
Your answers will be very much appreciated.
Cheers..

I'm not sure why that WA member stated this was a scam. This kind of situation happens often when you have a blog that is established or becoming established. It doesn't sound like a scam to me. And I have been approached by several people for these reviews.

Make sure the product owner understands that there is no quid pro quo here. Let the owner know that if the product does not meet your quality standards that you will give him or her the option of not publishing. Or, you may opt to publish the bad review. That's entirely up to you. Just make sure the owner is aware of your policy in this regard.

I'm with everyone else who states to leave out the WA promotion in this instance. But, that is your choice.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim for your response.
I also do not understand why TomHayes1 thinks it's a scam, that is why I asked if he could elaborate.
In my opinion, from what I have seen so far, it seems legit.

I would agree - your site - your rules. You can review his product and honest review. State upfront that is what you will be doing. I would not include WA in your review as he is asking for a review not a comparison. You could, however, do a comparison later.

go for a review copy - if it is good then don't drop wa in just promote his.
tell him you will be honest, and if you don't think it is good then you will say not recommended.
but make sure you look from the eyes that it is aimed at not an experienced marketer.
your rules. your site.
good luck

Hi, there feigner,

Can you please tell me, the email you received, was it from one of our own community members or from outside influence.

Don't' you think it quite strange if this person has been connected with AF for 10 years he would be experienced sufficiently to know for himself without asking.

From what I read, your email gives the hallmarks of the way that scammers operate; More especially if it has come from someone not associated with WA.

All the best

Tom

Hhhmm... Are you saying someone with years of experience can't ask for his product to be reviewed?
From what I gathered, it's his first time of creating a product.
I checked out the website and it seemed legit.
And he is not here on WA Platform.
But now I am confused and don't know what to make out of this.

i would go for it - at least get the review copy and see what you make of it.
it acn't hurt .
if you feel it is a rubbish course then email him and tell him you don't think it is suitable for review on your site.
but if it is good then you have a product review before anyone else.
good luck with whatever you do.

There are no rules. It's your site so you can do whatever you want. I guess you can take a look inside if he will give you a copy.

If you don't like it, just don't write about it. If you like it, you can be honest, write the pros and cons or anything else you want.
