Improve Your Pagespeed And Load Times!
I'm not sure how many of you follow Moz, but Moz has been a staple for me since I got started in SEO about 9 years ago. They have a ton of great tutorials and information both on local SEO and SEO in general. They also do what they refer to as "Whiteboard Friday" in which they post a video discussion issues, updates and solutions around a given topic. The most recent Whiteboard Friday is around Pagespeed Insights, understanding the report, tools to use to further diagnose and fix problems and how to better optimize your site's overall speed.

When using large images do you think tools like this one help?

I still do lots of blogging, just not here on WA. I must admit I've been meaning to do more but I have other higher priorities at the moment unfortunately.
As for large images, I would recommend sizing them down before uploading them to your site to reduce the original image size. Then when adding images to your posts choose the "large" or "medium" size image to insert, as opposed to the Full/original size image.
I use the plugin Optimole for my on-site image optimization. It compresses and converts your images to next gen formats which Google prefers.

I have been doing it wrong, I thought I only needed to compress them. Also, I did not know about the plugin. I still have so much to learn.
