I have a favor to ask. (Website Troubleshooting)

Hey WA!

I have a big favor to ask. I'm running into some issues with my new website theme and I want to see how much of an impact it has on users. The theme developer said they couldn't replicate it. I think it's because of the Chrome Extension AdBlock Plus.

If you could...

This is only for folks running Chrome with AdBlock Plus extension.. I know it functions properly in other browsers and without the extension..

I am using up-to-date Chrome and AdBlock Plus.

LINK REMOVED - THIS ISSUE IS ALL SET. THANK YOU! :)

And click on the first blue button "Learn More About Jaaxy"..

The link is an affiliate link and is supposed to open the link in a new tab.

However, what is happening for me is the new tab will open and then close itself and its as if nothing happened.

If you could test it and let me know what happens that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

PS If this is against any rules please let me know. I know it seems odd asking to click my affiliate links but I think ABP is blocking them. If I change the button to just link to Google it works fine..

Love your site, you're building up a great website there! keep at it.

Thank you!

Thanks for the help everyone. I've decided to bite the bullet and install an adblock notifier plug in the will suggest users whitelist the site or disable their adblocker. Additionally, my links at the end of articles won't open in new tabs since users will, presumably, be done reading the content at that point.

Thanks again!

Worked for me in new tab

John

I just tried it and it opens in the same window for me. It works, just does not open in a new tab.

Hey Deven. Have you tried it without triggering a new tab? Rich.

I have, and that also works fine. But ideally, especially if providing resources ideally the link should open in a new tab so the user doesnt lose their place in your article. For example I have links to Jaaxy, Siterubix and WA all in that one review. If someone navigates to Jaaxy early in the review the odds of them coming back are slim to none

I've seen this discussed over at WPMUDev and just checked, and no-one currently has a workaround, except to say don't open in a new tab. Sorry!

Just off the top of my head, have you tried a hop, ie. use a url shortener to launch the new tab, or tried launching it as a new window instead?
