Has Anyone Asked to Advertise on Your WebSite?
Everyonce in a while I get a message in my inbox that I don't know if it's real or a scam. But sometimes you have to take yes for yes because maybe someone sees value in what you are doing. Cutting to the chase, I got the following email this afternoon:
Hi,
My name is Maj and I work with a company called Healwell. The reason that I'm reaching out is because our company is interested in advertising on your website. We have been advertising with other websites that post similar content and we have seen great success with those partnerships. We have several products that I was thinking would be a great fit for your content but I would love to learn a little bit more about your site and what you're looking for in advertising partners....
The good news is that the company is real and does indeed deal with products that are in line with what I write about. The bad news is that this is the first time any company has at least broached the possibilty of advertising on my website. Which means I don't have any experience to fall back on.
To the veterns out there who have had companies advertise on their website, what's your experience? How did it go for you?
I guess even if nothing happens, it'd good to know that I'm reaching my audience.

Companies seek to advertise on websites so as to gain brand awareness, drive traffic to their website and increase sales.
In view of these goals, you can ask the interested advertiser questions to find out their goals. Also how did they find your website, what convinced them to advertise on your website, etc?
I've had advertising enquiries too. And from experience I found that some have no real interest and do not reply when questioned. Some are simply shopping for advertising rates. Some are scams.
So, it's good to do due diligence. Protect your brand, your website, your business. While it is good to have advertisers and revenue from this channel, do not go for short term gains that will harm long term ones. Advertisers must also match your brand.
Thabo, I just visited this site and they have no comment space and I read a reviw on the site that was terrible. The customer is complaining they never received their products nor did they get a requested refund so be careful my friend

Once you have research the company that wish to advertise with you, if they are credible I would suggest you use a logo or jpeg they send you and add this to your site which will send potential customers to their site and I would charge them around $30 per month for this service or a 12 month discount offer. Having advertiser can be lucrative if you get a few however always make sure you keep your reputation and site protected from wannabes
I hope this help

I have heard of this happening, but it is always hit or miss. I would get the company's name and contact information and research it. If you see credibility in their own website, that is a positive. Once you see their info is there and legit, I would contact the higher up and speak to him/her directly to get a feel for whether or not this is a company you want to promote. If there are any red flags, DON'T do it- no money is worth ruining what you have created.

Just say no. They probably have nothing to do with your niche, and they can change where the link is pointing to without your knowledge. Don't ever accept "offers" like this out of the blue!!
That's what I figured. Also, saw some red flags that I didn't like. I didn't pursue the matter.
