I am stumped on this. I've been on Instagram (IG) for almost 6 years. Now that I am ready and will be setting up a business profile - I asked myself, what should be my IG Profi

I wish I could help you out, you might ask other members for great ideas for your IG profile name, I'm sure someone will find something unique for you.
Jacqueline

Thanks Jacqueline! Trish shared an awesome idea. We missed CA. :)

Hey Terri,

How about using the domain name (without the dot com extension, of course) that you will be publicizing?

Hope this helps you.

This is a great idea, Trish! Thanks always. :)

I've used one smiley emoji so far, so just curious of others opinions.

The most I use is a :), normally you wouldn't see any emojis in blog posts.

That's the only thing I used too, Grace. Thanks!

Cool, you're welcome, Terri!

In my opinion it would have to depend on your target audience. For example, I am targetting men in my niche so I avoid them as they simply do not fit with my site.

If you are after a younger audience maybe but my opinion is that they could (and I say could) make your site look a little less professional.

That is what I thought so too. I randomly landed on someone's (non-WA blog) blog with similar niche to mine.

I noticed the blog had a lot of emojis, my first impression was -it made the content a little less professional. Thank you for your feedback, Paul.

I don’t, because I don’t know how my readers might take them. Better safe than sorry.
Jane

Thank you Jane.

You are welcome

No, I do not Terri.

Thanks Maxine!

No problem Terri!
To clarify,on my website no on the WA blog yes!

Hi - I personally don't like them. It makes me think of an over-excited teenager having a Snapchat conversation, as opposed to a professional business owner.

Ha! Agree with you on Snapchat conversations. Thank you for your comments, Diane.

if it fits your niche then use them - mine don't tend to.
will they show up properly on all devices used to view them
i know here that the preview for the responses doesn't show emojis just the characters.
have fun if you use them
phil

I think the most I used was :) once or twice in blog. Even that, it still came out not too professional. But with my niche, one or two I think is not too bad.

Thanks, Phil for the comments.

Sometimes I purchase a package of official event photos. There are 3 photos that I would like to use for my next niche website blog.

Do I give photo credit to the event

What is wrong with giving credit where credit is due? Even though you purchased the picture or got if free, someone did the work, give them the credit.

Thanks for the feedback Raymond! Either way, free or paid, someone did the work. :)

If it's purchased, no, don't give any credit.

So if it's stolen or free then credit should be given? I disagree with you on that. My photos are purchased all the time through various online platforms and I always get a photo credit. It takes nothing for a person to add a credit.

What I meant was you don't HAVE to give credit. Of course giving credit is always nice.

No, no one should STEAL pictures. Free pics don't need credit either, it's optional, it even says on the free site that it's optional.

Thanks, Grace! You have a good point too! :)

You're welcome Terri, it's best to check the site where you got the image from.

On this note, could you tell me quickly if what I’m doing is right or wrong?I have just used free photos on site content here at WA, and hearing they were free just place them on my blog post. Am I missing something here, should I go back and try and find a name, I’m not sure if there was? Thank you 🙏

Hi Shelley, you don't need to reference anything for free images. :) You can if you wish.

In that case, I would say yes.

If you purchase from somewhere like Shutterstock, no, or even free photos from Pixabay, also no. Their terms will state clearly that the images are royalty free and attribution is not required.

Thank you Phil! :) Thanks for your feedback. These folks took great shots.

As a pro photographer myself, I would. :) We hardly get enough credit as it is and always appreciate it when we get credited for the hard work and effort we put into creating a photo.

Thanks Todd! Similar to my comment reply to Stacie @sfortson ... you (pro photographers) spend tireless hours capturing memories. Kudos to you!

I would if I purchased the rights.
Stacie

Thanks Stacie. Will do. Now I think about it, these guys did a lot of work to be standing in the cold all day taking photos. :)

I normally just click update now. Today there's 2.11 version, just making sure I'm doing the right thing.

I support the others with a yes, you should update.

Wayne

Thanks Wayne! And have a great weekend!

A belated thank you, Terri.

Wayne

Yes always update as sometimes it will start having issues if you dont

Thank you Cathy for confirming. :)

Yes, always update to new versions.

Probably wise to backup first but I never do and have never had an issue over several years of using WP.

Thanks much Phil... I know, just learned too from Trish @Triblu regarding backing up. :)

Yes Terri,

Back up your website first (that way you'll have a means of restoration if worse comes to worse) and then backup EVERY time you receive word of new versions of anything from WordPress itself to your theme and plugins.

Here is the plugin I now use to backup my sites: Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you so much for this Trish! Very helpful as I never did any backup prior. :)

Strange! At least from my point of view, anyway.

I was updating my sitemap and noticed two external links (both WA related links), but absolutely not related to my own w

You must have copied that link somewhere and paste it in there. There's absolutely no other way of getting someone's link in your site unless you have put it in there or that person has access. Just go into your Users to make sure you're the only user, if you are, then you must have somehow went on someone's site to copy that link. Or grabbed someone's link on here who had pasted it on WA with their affiliate llink. You should only copy links on WA using the "affiliate link" button on each page/lesson on WA or under "Links & Tracking" under the $ icon on top right menu.

Sometimes people paste their affiliate links on WA in a reply or blog so be careful where you're copying it. You should always look for the "affiliate link" on the exact page you want to link from.

Hope this makes sense, you'll need to find those two links on your site and replace them.

Grace

Hey Terri,

Providing a screen print of your sitemap displaying the WA links you are referring to would be most helpful in offering you advice.

Here is a training video to show you how you can edit your question here and add your screen print: Even checked out your profile to see if I could visit your website, but alas, you have not completed your "Follow Me on" section by adding your website URL.

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks Trish. Yah, I have not added my website URL - will do so sometime soon ;)

Please, do let me know once you have done so as I am interested to see how you have determined that your sitemap is showing a link from someone else's website.

You should contact the other WA members and ask them why they have linked to your site.
If they are in a totally unrelated niche, you should probably ask them to remove the links.
Incoming links from a high quality relevant site are a good thing, though.

Thanks Phil. I will look into this further, it could be something silly that I did. Will contact the other WA member if need be.
