Get Rid of Your Readme.Html file
When you install WordPress on your website there is a file that gets included called readme.html. The contents of this file is instructions on how to install WordPress manually, should you decide to choose that method of installation.
But this file also broadcasts the version of WordPress that gets installed. This lets hackers know this information. When they know the version, they can check their "database of hacks" and see which ones are vulnerable with your installed version.
Once you have WordPress installed, you can simply use Filezilla to see if that file exists and simply delete it. It serves no purpose to you once WordPress is installed.
If you set up your credentials with a strong password, it will be difficult for hackers to get in. Therefore, choosing to leave the readme.html alone is not a huge security issue. However, why make it easy for hackers? Anything that you can do to reduce their ability to hack is a good measure.
If you decide to delete the readme.html file, be sure to back up your site first. The file has nothing to do with the functionality of WordPress but you can never be too careful.
