90-Day Youtube Challenge Day 4: Everything Doesn't Always Go As Planned

One funny thing is...

When you listen to gurus and many successful people, they make you feel like they're buttoned up all the time.

You see them on camera, but you don't see behind the scenes.

Even in regards to those who are successful here, we see their success posts, but we don't see how many failures they overcame to get there.

You see the developments of their businesses, but not the days when:

  • They wrote the blog post and their computer deleted it
  • When they created a video and it didn't save
  • or, when something personal interfered with their productivity

But, we all have "those days".

Today was one of "those days" for me. I was super motivated to have a very productive day. I got my son off to school, took my baby girl to daycare, had my breakfast, and rolled up my sleeves to get to work.

I had all of my video ideas all jotted out, and I started recording around 9AM. I was sure I'd be able to hammer out 3 or 4 videos today, until about 10:30AM when my first video was done, and my computer shut off without saving it.

I spent a full 1 hour recording this very thorough walkthru and my computer shut off! I decided to brush it off and to re-record. I recorded my video a 2nd time and it worked!

I went onto video #2 and the same thing happened, but this time, I re-recorded 3 times! That's 3 hours of time!

I don't know what's going on with my computer, but it definitely put a damper on my productivity today, but we all have "those days": the days when stuff happens that's out of your control.

That's when we all need resilience. The ability of the rubberband to be elastic and flexible, and to accomodate when life happens. It can be stressful and disappointing, but when you build resilience, it's a trait that translates well into every walk of life.

I'm determined not to let days like this stop me from accomplishing my mission, so I'll have to decide tomorrow how I'll schedule out my time and if I'll need to use a different computer. The computer I used today is my favorite computer because I'm very productive with it, so if I switch that may impact my time management, but it is what it is.

In times like today, I usually do alot of self-talk. I say things like:

  • I'm going to make this work
  • I will figure this out
  • Or, my favorite mantra is "I'll be better at this tomorrow than I am today"

I might have to take a break, go on a walk, eat something I like, or do another task that's calming, so I'm not overwhelmed with frustration because that won't make things any better. When you really think about it, there are some things that we absolutely can't control, so our best bet is to focus on the things we can like our attitudes or our preparation for next time.

I also try to highlight the accomplishments I have made. In this case, I did create and publish one 1-hour video today, but I wanted to do 3 or 4. My original plan didn't work out, but I did have a babystep of productivity.

What's your challenge for today? How do you handle roadblocks like this? How do you re-motivate yourself when it seems like you keep running into setbacks?

Leave your comments below. Your advice could be helpful for me or someone else.

Thanks for all of your support, comments, subscribes, and overall kindness! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you!

If you're interested in seeing my progress, you can check out my Youtube channel here. My video today was a full walk-thru of Flexoffers. Hopefully, it's helpful to you.

Resilience seems to be the key word here. It is something we all need to get through the inevitable challenges.

I agree. Things don't always go as planned and resilience is the inner power to recalibrate and remain in control of our emotions, our mindset, and our actions in those trying times.

Hi Tiffany, you have motivated me to do my own YouTube video challenge, starting April 1. I need to figure out how many will be a realistic number to shoot for.

Ps. I’m sorry about your challenges yesterday. That would be frustrating.

It happens Sondra! Today is working out better so far. I'm using a different computer (not my favorite but it may become my favorite with time). I'd love to see your Youtube videos once you get them up! You give so many great nuggets. I'm sure your channel will be filled with wisdom. Let me know so I can subscribe.

That is great. I'll be subscribing to yours also.

Thanks! I'd appreciate that.

Your determination is astounding!
Best of luck to you,
C & P

Thanks so much! Best wishes for you also!
