Domain Transfer is Easy!
Now that Wealthy Affiliate siteDomains allows transfer of existing domains registered elsewhere, I decided to give it a try.
I have a few domains at Namecheap so I picked one that isn't very active as a test. Since the domains I want to transfer are already hosted at WA, it turned out to be super easy. In just minutes I had the request done and waiting for WA to complete the transfer.
If the domain is hosted on WA, go to https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/domains and you can see a list of the domains that are hosted here but registered elsewhere. Pick the one you want to transfer click Transfer to WA.
You will get a new screen where you enter the transfer code from your old host. This is also called an EEP code and Namecheap refers to it that way or as an Authorization Code. You have to get this before WA can initiate the transfer.
On Namecheap, go to your dashboard and select Domain List.
Find the domain you want to transfer and click Manage on the right side of the entry.
Next, click Sharing and Transfer then Unlock and Auth Code.
You will be asked why you are transferring the domain. I just said I was transferring to my hosting company. The transfer code will then be mailed to the email address on record. If you have Whois Protection, it will be some weird looking address you don't recognize. Don't worry, it will come to your email box.
Namecheap says it can take up to 5 days to get the code but mine arrived instantly.
Now paste that code into the box on WA, enter the domain name and click Add Domain.
Verify you identity and pay for at least 1 additional year of hosting.
There will be one extra step and that is to verify the Whois Protection email you get from WA.
Now I am off to transfer the rest of my domains! Give it a try - it really is simple.
