Does anyone know if I absolutely have to have a WordPress website installed for a domain in order to setup email forwarding?

I recently transferred a domain into WA from

Yes, you can get a New Email Forward choosing a domain name even though you haven't installed a WordPress site there. The domain name must be shown in the dropdown menu (choose a domain) to be able to choose it. Otherwise, the domain name transfer has not been completed yet.
Did you try through

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/email

It’s straightforward.

Tom

Yes. I've been trying through that link and have been unsuccessful at getting the mail forward to be verified through Gmail. I've done this successfully with mail forwards for several other websites, which is why I'm slightly thrown that it hasn't been straightforward this time around...

Can you see your domain name under “choose a domain”?

Yes

What is the exact message you receive after clicking on Create (New Email Forward option)? You may want to share a screenshot.

Hi you can go here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/email

And set up a webmail or forward to a mailbox.

Yep your site has to be pointed to WA servers, in order to use webmail.

Tutorial If issue persists I would reach out to site support.

The only thing you cannot have an email set up on siterubix subdomain.

It's not a siterubix domain, so I can check off that box!

I may take your advice and reach out to SiteSupport here shortly. Thanks!

Is providing comments on others' websites in order to receive and respond to comments on my articles a good use of my time? In other words, where does it fit within the 80/20 r

I guess my question wasn't as clear as I intended. I know the value in terms of engagement and trust with new readers.

My real question is, should I be spending the requisite time to actually post comments to other websites in order to be able to request comments on my posts?

Or should I start building an extra $50 to $100 into my monthly budget to simply buy credits to request comments through WA?

Thanks y'all!

I can't really answer your question as I don't have the data (I guess no one except Google does) on how much comments actually affect your SEO. If you can build relevant backlinks for a similar (time or money) investment, that is probably more useful. As is creating more content. I've done the 20/80 in a way that I try to get one or two comments on every new post and that's it. I actually use the given and take comemnts threads as you can just exchange comments on one for one principle.

if you have the cash to invest in your biz like that then sure
;) 20 bucks is a nice budget, I don't think we need to go terribly nuts with comments.
More naturally and consistent, slow and steady:) wins the race.

Oh okay. And yeah, why not?

I know some members here who'd rather buy credits to request comments (TonyHamilton is one of them), instead of spending hours leaving comments on other members' sites in exchange for credits.

Thanks Jukkah! A good friend of mine also suggested utilizing more time to build relevant backlinks. Do you have any resources on that front I should look into?

Good afternoon Tucker,

I see my websites as living entities, they demand time and care. I rotate my old posts, check them if all is ok, add this or that, get a new date and ask for more comments.
This system keeps old posts alive and with the new date SEO will look at them again.
A visitor will see comments made in different years and that will give a good impression plus the comments count as added content to your post.

Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske

I like that analogy! I have also been going through to update old posts. I'm realizing it's something that I should be working into my schedule on maybe a quarterly basis so that I don't fall too far behind. Thanks for the advice!

Good evening Tucker,

Everybody has his/her system. I found that checking on old posts is good for my websites. All the best.

Stay safe and healthy,

Taetske

Having comment on your website improves your standing with Google. Normally it would take a while to get comments organically. Wealthy Affiliate has set up this system to give us a head start.

Also. when someone arrives at your post organically, it will look good to them to see they are not the first.

Hope this helps.

Edwin

Hey Edwin! I definitely recognize this value. Am just at a stage where I'm contemplating the best use of time and $$ to grow engagement and build site authority!

I think building trust with your readers is a big reason why we should do it.

Because if you think about it when you personally go online to buy something or learn about a topic — you like to go to to the review section or comments and see what people are saying.

So by getting comments on your website you can let your readers know more about the topic and also show them how your a real personal trying to help people and not some anonymous person behind the screen.

Plus answering 2-4 comments a day ( which all you need per post ) takes maybe 10-15 minutes.

So I don’t this small task taking up too much of my time.

Hope this helps. :)

I agree wholeheartedly here! Thanks for your advice!

I'm wondering if Google uses my responsiveness to website comments as a metric for ranking my site. If so, does it behoove me to reply to comments ASAP after I receive them? Or

hey hi Tucker !

Excellent question -- hey with SEO and in particular Google which uses like something over 200+ factors in its algorithmic formulations, then your guess would be as good as anyone else's!

.... so having said that, It comes back to user experience -- put yourself in the shoes of the commenter -- what would you appreciate?! ... likely a prompt reply is more likely to be 'liked' and engaging then someone who drags their heels, perhaps? ...

.... and as an educated guess, yes, it's likely 'timeliness' would be a factor in the seo algorithms ... and also from a 'relevance' perspective -- fresh news is more desirable than stale old, right? ..

all the best to you for every success, cheerio ... ⭐️🎈

Absolutely agree with your points. I always reply promptly, but as I'm now learning from the above thread, my commenters likely aren't see my responses, which means I'm missing opportunities for repeat engagment.

it is a factor they take into account - how much it affects your seo- who knows?
it doesn't have to be minutes, but just don't leave comments pending or unanswered for days.
but it maybe mainly for the users - so make sure they get a response from you to continue the interaction.

This is helpful. Thank you. I'm typically very prompt with replies, for the exact reason you mention. But I typically don't see secondary replies from users. For example, if they ask a question and I provide a response and/or another follow-up question, I usually never hear back from them.

Do you think that's just the nature of the game? Or is there a setting on my website that sends users a notification when I respond to their comment?

do you have a plugin to inform your commentor that you have replied? if not they are unaware of it. so that maybe the reason.
they are not notified by default.
Comment Approved Notifier Extended is the plugin i use.

I do not! I must've overlooked that in the site setup process. Was it mentioned in WA's training? I thought I was pretty thorough when going through, but it's possible I missed it. Thanks for the recommendation!

waasn't mentioned -found out about it later !!
hopefully you will get more comments now!!

I just installed it on all my sites. Thanks again! I'll let you know how it goes!

I'm hoping to outsource the design of one of my websites, but the designer I'm trying to work with prefers to work in Wix instead of Wordpress. Is it possible to keep my site h

Wix is a website builder, and all of its content is hosted on Wix's servers. No matter what I was going to do about hosting, I would not do it on a wix website.

Thanks Mike!

Can you elaborate on why that is? And do you have any recommendations for other hosts to use and build on Wix?

Or is it even possible to build on Wix and host on another server?

Should I look into redirecting from the site I have hosted here on WA to a new site on Wix's servers?

Thanks again!

Any insights are appreciated!

It is not possible to host a wix site on another server, nor would there be a reason to do that

Ok, thank you!

If your domain is registered here, you could merely point the dns to wix. If i were going to move the content, I would not redirect the site, but just move all the content (files- website) to wix

Got it. That's what I'm going to look into. Thanks again!

You could have an adblocker in your browser. Turn off the adblocker or use a different browser and see if that helps.

I'm searching for an AdBlocker in my Safari preferences, but with no luck. I also tried to load the page with Google Chrome and ads aren't displaying in that browser either. Do they display if you visit the site? (After the first paragraph under the 'Comfort is King' heading)
