WA Affiliate Program

Hi lovely WA community,

I am considering pausing my WA account and was wondering:
1. Can I still be posting articles on my website?
2. I am halfway through my annu

You can cancel and resubscribe on your return. Your website will be down, though.

You can go here

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/account/subscription

And cancel billing.

For any websites hosted here, you need to arrange alternative hosting for your website before your subscription ceases, as you would be locked out of the platform; site support back ups are only available for 60 days.

You can never revert back to being a starter.

You may contact site support for a back up of your websites.
.
Also, domain names must have passed the grace period of 60 days.

Thank you Abbie, can I still access and post on my websites?

Once you are locked out, no.

Thank you for your reply and it is indeed a great resource this article.
However, it is also very technical, a bit beyond my technical understanding of what I need to do to fix my issues.

Have you encountered these issues before? How did you fix them?

You may also ask site support for assistance.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support

Yes, I did contact site support, however, they have referred me to my theme support. I have a free theme and there is only generic documentation available.

I go through the resources step by step, there's a couple of plugins you can install and activate. There's also a third however it is premium which is WP Rocket (100% Money Back Guarante within 14 days of your purchase), and highly recommended.

Thank you, yes indeed I see that WP Rocket is recommended for beginners. Could you recommend a free plugin that does a good job too?

Asset CleanUp: Page Speed Booster

Thank you, I have installed Autoptimize, speed looks better already, still not great :)

Hi Tatiana, I don't use SEMrush but I speak with Jay who does. This sounds to me like a false negative, meaning I would disregard it. I have seen numerous instances on both SEMRush and Ahrefs numbers and indicators that may seem like red flags when in fact they are not.

I'll look into this further but these are just my 2 cents. If you did NOT replicate your WA review anywhere else on your site and that post is literally the only place where that content exists, there can't be any duplicate content to even worry about.

BTW, great review!

Hi Vitaliy,
Thank you for your reply.
I have not replicated my content on my website, but I have saved this review under my category 'Reviews' and a separate menu on my header.
Could this cause the issue?

I like the idea of false negative and doing nothing going forward :) Thank you for taking a look at my review. I am happy to receive all the expert feedback I can get!

Not sure why it's caused but this isn't the first time I've seen a false negative pop up with such programs. They are good but they aren't perfect and subjectivety on the info they give you also plays a huge role.

You can remove a tag by placing your cursor beside the tag and pressing the backspace or delete key on your keyboard.

https://aioseo.com/docs/using-the-smart-tags-in-titles-and-descriptions/

But I don't want to remove my tag, I want Google not to index it. Rather I want Google to index my content :)

You can.

Not sure which SEO plugin you are using,
But make sure you "tags" is not checked for indexing.

Thank you for your reply. I am using AIOSEO together with Block editor. Could you please guide me on how to uncheck tags for indexing?

Thank you
Tatiana

Hey WA community,

I am busy with the Bootcamp training, phase 2, lesson 4/10.
One of the tasks of that lesson is to write an article Targeting a Selling Type Keyword.

Hey Tatiana,

I recently retook this training as a refresher too... I hope the following WA Blog helps you out: All My Best,
Teanna

Hi Tatiana,
Look at your niche and think about what product would sell and write a review on that product. Use Jaaxy to check that there isn't too much competition for your title for the keyword.

Keyword can also mean a phrase or title. Such as Wealthy Affiliate Review - Scam or Brilliant. (Just an example)

This tutorial may help you too; Lily

Hi Lily, thank you for your reply.
That is interesting that you mention the review on Wealthy Affiliate because I have already written that :)
My take away from that lesson is that we need to target a selling type keyword like the following:

how to sell
how to make money selling
how to promote
how to earn money selling
how to sell online

So my question is how do I teach someone on how to sell something online if I have not done it myself?

Tatiana

You could do some research on articles about selling online. while you are learning about it take some notes and it will give you some ideas.

Lily

Hi Tatiana,

You may want to check out this article/tutorial by Kyle Jaxxy is also another tool you can use for this.

Let me know if you're still not sure.

Mark

Hi Mark and thank you for your reply.
I think I understand now how to search and pick the right keywords.
My problem is writing the content advising someone on selling online when I have no clue how to myself :)

Cheers, Tatiana

Hi Tatiana,

You have two options from here.

I too was like you when I first started this, so my first ever website was about Dogs, which I was very passionate about and that made it very easy to write about and incorporate affiliate links into my articles.

After about 6 months working on this site, I then started the Boot Camp training and started my first MMO website, I found this easier because I had already created a sales site through my passion (Dogs).

Happy to help if you need anything Tatiana.

Mark

Hi

Look for searches (avg.) above 30 and competition (qsr. ) lower than 100, the lower the qsr the better. Starter sites SEO greater than 95.

https://my.jaaxy.com/search/keywords

For your choice of keywords, always do an incognito search on Google before settling on a keyword, to see who appears in the top 3 positions.

Or you may do in Jaaxy tool search analysis

https://my.jaaxy.com/search/serp-analysis

Tutorials

Your found target keywords go in the title of your post and again in first or second paragraph then write freely. Some include them towards a conclusion if it conveys a message. I'd also make sure they are grammatically correct.

Hi Abie,

Thank you for your replies.
I think I understand now how to search for good keywords.

I was mostly wondering how shall I write the piece of content giving someone how to sell something online if I have not done it myself. I would need help from someone else before I can sell anything online not to mention teaching someone how to do it.

Tatiana

I suggest you do your piece and then request feedback.

Dear WA community,

I have noticed some things about my website:

Hi Tatiana, let me give you my personal opinions since I have some experiences with this:

1) Sometimes hosting can lag for different reasons. It can be your connection to the site, or it can be from the server. It rarely happens, but these things happen from time to time.

2) I think it's a cache issue and if you clear it on your end, it'll show up. You can look up your site on another browser to double check and you can also contact site support to be sure it's not an issue for the public.

3) I have had this issue for a few of my posts on some of my sites. It's not an issue on your end but Google's and it's pretty common today. Don't worry about it, continue to add content, internally link to the page that isn't indexed and sooner or later it will. I literally some posts which weren't indexed for months even though I went through the steps to do that (and it said it indexed too).

Hi Vitaliy,

Thank you for your reaction and advice on this.
As a newbie it is hard to know whether I am doing something wrong or whether it is a technical mistake on Google side.

That is a good tip: to link internally to the posts that are not indexed. I will do that going forward.

Thanks again,
Tatiana

No problem!

the site being slow could be down to a number of things
like the theme...is it old or code heavy...
plugins.. are they all compatable...
image... the most common reason for a slow site
code...excess javascript or css
render blocking...something is stopping your site loading in the code...

your articles if they are posted on your site are there...even if your computer or phone says they are not... this will be down to a caching problem...either on your site or in your computer...
pressing ctrl+f5 on your computer will update your browsers cache..so eliminating that...

google search console is not instant... it populates when google tests your articles against others...
it will appear in the google search page when using the
site:[sitename]
this will list everything that is indexed...
ranking will take the next 40 plus weeks to get ot its 90% point....
so you need to be patient...
after about 4 weeks, if you get traffic when your article is being tested then you will start to get queries populated reliably in search console... but you need to be patient...

sorting out your speed problem..especially for mobile is important... and is now part of the ranking factors you can control

good luck
phil

Hi Phil,

Thank you for your reply, very insightful.

In terms of speed of my site, I am not sure whether I can do much about my theme. It is updated recently and I really like it, I want to keep it :)
Plugins - I might have some that are not tested with my current version of WordPress. Can that be a reason too? Shall I better deactivate those?
Images-I use mostly the ones I make myself with the phone. They could have a large size. Is there a quick method to decrease the size? Any other issue there might be with the images?
CSS-I have not added any excessive CSS coding to my website

I have searched in Google as you suggested: site:[sitename]
I noticed that I have images and tags indexed. Is that normal? How to correct that? I have receintly resubmitted my sitemap to Google Search Console.

And I need the patience rule, tough one :)

Thank you again!
Tatiana

it does sound like possibly your images are one of the main problems...
phones nowadays take images that are huge...compared to the 'old days'
i optimize my images with riot... a small program for a pc...but if you are using your phone then you may need ot look online for one that does the same...
not used this one but it is an online one

Caesium Image Compressor

i normally take images down to between 320 and 640 pixel in the x direction..
and this gives me image file sizes of tens of kilobytes...
if the images are used in a post they are normally not that large so can be reduced to this size without issue...

with the plugins.. only have the ones you really need ot imprve the user exerience...
older plugins can start to become an issue if they are not comaptible, but it is not always a problem...

what are your speed figures for mobile typical...

Thank you Phil, indeed the images are the only thing I can think of, unless there is something else more technical that I cannot detect.

I usually make my images Banner size which is 360 x 235.
Not sure if that helps.

Just checked my speed for mobile: 4.5 seconds....very slow :(

Indexing can take few weeks I believe.

Hi Mohamed, thank you.
Indeed need to learn to be more patience.
It is hard when I think there are things that I can do to help my site rank and I just don't know what exactly.

Tatiana

You are welcome.
