I am really struggling with writing the ABOUT ME on the start up of my website, I have search different websites for advice and tips and I am still struggling with writing abou

The easiest way to do it is to start by creating 4 headings;

* A little bit about me
* Why I started this website
* How I am to help you
* Where you should start

Then just fill them in with text, as if you were talking to a friend :)

Thank you Dale :)

Hi Tammy,

What to put in my “about me” page:

The whole idea behind the about me page of any website is to build a trusting relationship with your readers and let them know what you can do for them.

I normally suggest that you start your “About Me” page by thanking the reader for stopping by to visit your website and how much you "I really appreciate you being here and visiting my website today".

Moving on to giving a brief description of yourself, your past, finally adding a little about the present. All wrapped up nicely in three short paragraphs (no more than 9 short sentences).

Then in the fifth and possibly the sixth paragraph should be spent telling your readers what you have accomplished over the years that makes you different, special, and more informed from anyone else that is also writing on the topics or subjects within your niche.

Meanwhile, (possibly the most important aspect of the about me page) letting your reader know you will use these skills and how you will use those skills in assisting them to resolve their problems.

Next, invite them to stop back frequently or come back often as you will be providing more and more helpful information throughout the blog's life.

Then finally, thank them for taking the time to read your introduction about yourself, and you look forward to their comments that they may leave in the near and distant future on the many different blogs you will be publishing to the website.

Make sure you share just enough personal experiences with them to make them feel comfortable (you don’t want the entire page to be just about you) while reading your material and trusting it as well.

Additionally, make sure you emphasize on what you can do for them: that is what will grab their attention and keep it, making them what to read more to find out what all you really can do for them. Remember, your entire website should be devoted to helping your readers so this page should follow the same formatting.

I always ask someone like a neighbor or someone else that knows more fairly well to read my “about me” page to get second opinions on whether to add more or delete some of the material. Just because it is better to always have a second opinion on any personal material you write.

I hope this helps,

Calvin

Thank you Calvin this is really helpful :)

You're Welcome!

It's great to hear it was useful for you.

Hi Tammy, you may be just having writers' block. Try not to worry about it too much. Just ask yourself, "what do I want the world to know about me" It could be things you like to do; about your family; what lead you to WA etc. It doesn't have to be perfect, you can always add to it, and develop it later.
Hope this helps.

Hello M133,
I was wondering if I was able to come back later and improve and edit this at a later date, this was really useful information and has helped take the pressure off so that I can resume with the training so thank you so much for this advice : )
I think I have writers block at the moment with the added dose of nerves.
Tammy

Yes, of course you can edit it later; Kyle even stated that in his training. Mine is not finished yet, but I will keep adding to it.
Glad the info was useful.
Cheers!
