The Right Theme
Sometimes I feel like I am on a Ferris wheel, just going round and round, but I am not going anywhere.
I have been at this a year and don't get me wrong, I have learned a ton of stuff. There is help here unlike any other community that I know about.
So here is the challenge I feel I need to face. First I want to improve me existing website. It's there but I need to step up my game to make it a success.
Let me say this first. My view of success is not about wealth it is more aligned to what I learned from Earl Nightingale. "Success is the progressive realization of a worthwhile ideal". I heard it long ago as the "progressive realization of a worthwhile goal or dream". That is where I am at.
So now on to my first dilemma - In improving my website I am thinking about a better suited theme. My site is a religious based blog or website that focuses on informing, building community and promoting books or other related items.
My current theme is "The Notes Lite". If you want to you can find my site in my profile so you can check out what I am working on.
My questions is what Theme would you recommend for this particular type of site?
I welcome your comments and hope that you can help me in this matter.

My response to your question is this. Horrible themes keep me away from the website. What makes horrible theme (for me)?
- Gifs (like your signature).Sorry, I find them annoying and distracting, and I've had to install a Chrome extension just so that i can pause or disable them on a page.
- Continuous video motion. Again, like Gifs, these are distracting. I like videos to start when I say so and stop when I say so.
- Jarring, primary colours, and lots of them.
- Too many fonts. I think most SEO validators say use a maximum of 4 fonts, but I think just a couple is fine.
- Unexpected material jumping out at me from nowhere. Pops up! Ugh! Scrolly bits which don't bring anything to the party.
Great themes don't keep me, they just give the website a (fleeting) opportunity to grab my attention. I forget who now, unfortunately, but his website is fantastic! It is simple, direct and to the point. I loved it. But I haven't returned to it because I'm not interested in his niche.
The takeaway, as I see it, is provide your visitors with what they want whilst being careful not to kick them in the teeth with a garish website and you'll be just peachy.

Since my website is geared towards pet supplies, that's what I typed in the search to find my theme.
I really like the theme I have now. Maybe try tying in religion or books.

I don't know much about themes, I just picked one and went with that. I have no idea what the difference is between them. so can't help, sorry.
