Commitment

In a conversation with my sister on the sad situation today where marriages seem to be a temporary thing. My thought is that the difference from today's generation and my generation was COMMITMENT.

Yes, I was married in 1968. Yes, we had some real struggles in our marriage. Struggles that made both of us wonder if we should just quit and give up. But somehow through time we stayed committed and it has lasted a long time.

Now this post is not about marriage. I know that there are situations where marriages will fall apart.

But this is about commitment and how a lack of willingness to commit to something destroys our will to persevere.

Let's talk about how this relates to WA.

We all start with and idea, some goal in mind,

Our idea or goal could be to make a difference; to help others.

Or it could be to earn some extra money for retirement or to earn a whole bunch of money to live a different lifestyle.

We all start the same until the first struggle comes.

That is where commitment comes in! Commitment is "the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc" (Online dictionary).

Commitment says I am dedicated to seeing this through no matter what!

"Motivation is what gets you started. Commitment is what keeps you going.” Jim Rohn

“You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fear.” Sammy Davis Jr

Are you going to commit to making this work?

Or are you going to give up fearing that this is just not worth it all?

Our first fight and struggle in our marriage came the day after we moved into our own place. We could have given up then but something in us said, I want to work this out. We were resolved to commit to this.

I joined the Navy in 1967. I gave it up twice and then came back each time, finally retiring in 1997. I am so glad every month now that I didn't totally give up on that activity.

My first struggle with WA came about a week after I had started. I quit for a couple month but kept paying my membership fee. Then when I quietly researched and thought about this I realize that quitting was the stupid thing to do.

Let me end with this thought - If you are having doubts; take a little time off, think things through but most importantly review the why you started.

Commit to making this work, remove "I quit" from your vocabulary. Then try each day to do better to work towards success.

“Commitment is what transforms a promise into a reality.” Abraham Lincoln

Now, go forth and have a blessed day and a blessed journey towards success in your life.

Thank you Ray.
Great post.

I am slogging along here on WA - although very slowly.
One word that is not in my vocabulary is QUIT.
At times I get frustrated, & one problem is I won't ask for help. Help is always there with this wonderful WA Family. I would like to help others & will do so when I know what I offer to others is correct. Incorrect information would be detrimental.

Good afternoon my friend, I love your blog. I feel the vibrations of you being a winner, always remember failure has value and never give up no matter what. Have a burning desire for what you're doing, be persistent and you will make it to the top of that mountain of success. Have a very successful week.

Hi Earl, so glad you stopped by and thanks for such encouraging words.
I always thought that winners never fail but it seems the greater truth is that winners never quit.
Have a great week ahead.
Ray

Commitment is almost a lost word now. Sadly SO MANY marriages fail.

Today it's all about instant gratification and that is NOT what you get here. It IS a commitment. I mean, it's flexible. You can come and go and work at your own pace but to make it work, you need commitment and consistency.

~Debbi

You say it so well Debbi. That is one of the things that I like so much about this community; you can work at your pace and no one puts you down.
Thanks again for stopping by and I do hope you have a great and successful week ahead.
Ray

Thank you for this post Ray, as without commitment there is no us!!!

Hi Rami. I am always glad to be a small part of offering words of encouragement around here. This is such a great community to be a part of. Thank you too for stopping by.
I hope you have a great week ahead.
Ray

Hi Ray,
I would say you are offering a big part of words encouraging people. Commitment is a very important ingredient in both a marriage and a business without which it is impossible to succeed in either one. I don't see that as small!!
Thank you I wish likewise to you and your good lady..;)
R.

I hear you Ray, a very complex words with a great impact on life. I have just about given up myself many times her at WA because of the road I choose to go down that even today is very controversial.
When I started there was much research to go through because health and health issues are left up to the DRS. It wasn't common to do your own research and be heard because I am not a DR nor a scientist.
Commitment and passion for what you do will overcome many obstacles and know I find a lot more people in the same boat doing there own research and the road has become much easier to follow
Allway a better way

Hi Linda. I know what you mean about the importance of doing your own research, it must be extra hard in the medical field but nothing is impossible when you put your mind to becoming the expert in your niche.
Yes, it takes time, but think about all the benefits that might come in the long term when you commit to your cause.
I thank you too for stopping by and your kind words.
Never give up on yourself.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Ray

Thank you, Ray, Know with the health threats that we are living in today it has become more imperative to keep working, and just maybe people will begin to educate themselves. Then something good will come of all of this. Always a better way
