focus challenges and wp

my husband is finishing his degree in computer programming. I expressed my frustration of learning these interfaces with him like word press and he said "that's the challenge with finding a job as a programmer. Here I am looking at things for the first time and I'm in competition with these teenagers who started coding at 3 yrs old and already have 15 years of experience!" boy I love him. soo

I hear everyone writing about how easy WP is to navigate, operate and control. I do not agree. while word press to me is the crème of the crop for writing websites some people still have terrible challenges within the operating system. I am not tech savvy and often get lost in click farms myself, but I want to be. I am looking for the best word press template for me. the one that is simple easy to navigate and control. I find myself changing themes over and over and in this have really corrupted my new website more than once and accidentally wiped out my favorite wealthy affiliate review page. so I guess I will keep it to one or two questions here. what is the process to choosing a theme in word press? how can you tell whether it is straight forward enough but still offer enough control to make it your own.

i agree with judep, check out marion's training.
the other thing to do is to look at kyles site and down the bottom may be the template name -possibly chose that and stick with one. changing all the time you are bound to lose - as you have - some information. backup your site before you carry out major changes.

pass this link onto your other half it may be interesting http://www.completewebdevelopercourse.com/book/HowToEarn10,000WhileLearningToCode.pdf

take your time over the site - it is not a race, learn at your own pace.
use the second site as a test site and test things before trying them on your main site.
have fun

Be sure that mobile conditions are taken into account. Here is a good WordPress source to help with your decision. http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/selecting-the-perfect-theme-for-wordpress/

Marion Black has some superb training, search for her profile and have a look there :)
