The reason for doing so is

Hello Schalk,

I don't know if it will help, but I'm using the "Presto Player"-plugin for WordPress and there you have a lot of possibilities. I have changed all my videos with this plugin and it is great!

Best regards,

Many thanks! Will have a look.

It's totally free and you can customize many things. See my website: https://topfishinggadgets.com
Let me know what you think about it. (Presto Player)

Hi Peter. I had a look. Looks very nice. However, I am always wondering how does it affect load speed of web page or article? Is that all good? Also wondering where are the videos uploaded or are they not uploaded at all when for example playing a YouTube video via Presto Player? Is it uploaded to your actual WordPress or the third party platform Presto? If so how much upload space do you have as a free user? Also if it is uploaded to your WordPress does it slow things down? Just some questions I always consider when looking into something that looks great. Many thanks!

As far as I know, the videos are played like you should play a YouTube video (without download), but maybe you have that possibility. You should have a look in the "View Details" for that plugin.
I really don't know if there is a limit but I think I already have +500 videos... Just give it a try, you can always delete it...

Best regards,

This is a very good video of how to use the "Presto Player" (33 min.)

Many thanks! Very much appreciated! Sounds great.

I think I might use it, thank you Peter.

Looks like you’re well covered here with a lot of great information.

Schalk, I saw Phil giving you the answers on your blog post. Did that work? I did see somewhere I read that Gutenburg editor has a video block, if you use that, you can embed the video. Can you screenshot it on here in the so we can see it? You can screenshot only in the comment box.

Hi Brenda, the screenshots are all in this article:

The black lines at the top and bottom are because of the aspect ratio. Those ugly black lines come in when the video's aspect ratio differs from your WP content's aspect ratio. That is the issue. It's like that for tv, a standard aspect ratio or widescreen ratio. It's a little hard to explain, but I learned this from my late ex-boyfriend, an electronics expert. How to fix that is a good question. The video ratio is

iframe width="560" height="315"

It needs to be resized. That part I do not know how to fix

Brenda I think this happens during lazy load. So probably if I choose not to lazy load then that won't happen. But then it will slow down my load speed dramatically. Not sure what the solution is. Can even be that whatever solution I use here to lazy load the video may respond different if I use a different solution perhaps to lazy load it. Not sure.

I dont think lazy load has anything to do with it its the size of the aspect ratio that is an issue it needs to be resized to fit in the WP screen I had a hard time trying to copy and paste the aspect ratio of that video it kept trying to screw up and led me to cuss. The coding paste kept disappearing the rest of my comment above. Now it's there for you to see the aspect ratio.

You can edit the ratio in a video clip software, clip champ

Hi Brenda, thanks. But if you check the article I shared a screenshot of the exact same aspect ratio you mentioned - that is what I have posted via html within my article, so I honestly don't know what the solution is. I bet if I don't lazy load it the problem will be solved. May test that in a bit, but is of course not really a solution.

Right, you can play around with it. I know the HTML coding is there, but it's the size which is why there are black lines at the top and bottom I see this a lot with images and videos, and that's why I always resize all of them to fit. There is a way to reduce the video compression and resize that ratio so that the black will disappear. I wish you the best. Rudy or Jay, our trainer is an expert with this-you can consult with them and send them both a private message.

Yes I now checked. Now that I am no longer lazy loading it I see exactly the way it should be displaying correctly. So got to do with the plugin that is doing the video lazy load. Problem sort of solved now. Thanks! As at least I now know where to look for the problem.

Aha, so there it was. Interesting. That was a grand theory to suspect lazy load, so if you don't use that plug-in, it more or less resolved itself. Now I know if I experience something like you do, then it's the lazy load plugin. I don't use any lazy load plug-ins. I compress and resize them. Ok, it sounds like the problem is resolved, so I cussed for nothing on your behalf, LOL!

It helps to have other minds try to figure it all out. Talking it out and thinking about it all seems to help troubleshoot this is why this platform is an excellent place for these issues.

Haha lol yes it is semi-solved. Videos loading on your article is very intensive and will slow down load speed of article dramatically. The plugin I use have a multi-faceted function, so not that easy to just replace it. I think the lazy load image generated size is just slightly out and probs to do with the plugin lazy load image generation size being just slightly out.

Oh well I am going to make an exception of that article page and disable lazy load there. This issue does not happen if the thumbnail background image has colour. If it is a white background, then it happens.

Absolutely!

Yeah thanks I see them, Schalk!

Brenda on even further investigation the plugin I use - on top of its video lazy load functionality it also has an additional function called youtube thumbnail previews which can be activated and cuts down on loading time by up to an addditional 64% really boosting loading performance. But this is this function that causes the issue. So I just deactivated that for a better user experience instead but still able to lazy load videos now via this plugin.

Thanks for the information. I'm glad you learned more about this. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/1rudy1/profile

Rudy can help with this issue.

Rachele

Thanks!

Szeeman,

I found this.

Hi, many thanks, but this is not the adding of an image. This is the adding of a video via YouTube url or html code and the thumbnail it generates has a black line at the top and a black line at the bottom and there seems to be no remedy for this when the YouTube thumbnail has a white background.

Okay,

I'll keep searching for you.
Have you tried site support?

Thanks, much appreciated but I don't believe site support deals with such issues. They only deal with hosting issues.

OK

I wasn't aware, thanks! :D

Just wondering if anyone here tried GrooveFunnels and ClickFunnels 2.0 and can tell me which software do you find better in general? I am now mostly referring to the process of

Many thanks, Abie!

You may like to ask Chigs going forward.

Who is Chigs?

Hi Schalk,

I did the ClickFunnels 30-Day Challenge last year... it was interesting but too hyped up. They're mostly into doing training using their software of course to make funnels. They focus a lot on using funnels on Facebook. They teach how to create upsells and downsells... just not my thing!

Sorry, but I don't know anything about Grove Funnels.

Thanks for your valuable input. Much appreciated! 😊

I learned something very interesting while taling the 30 day ClickFunnel challenge.

It was about hacking.

No, not that kind of hacking.

I mean seeing a website style and layout design that you like/admire and using it for yourself.

I finished the challenge about the time Groove Funnels appeared.

They were so new, they were still in beta mode, testing it out.

The GF layout and color scheme, IMHO, is a hack of ClickFunnels. That was the first thing I noticed about them.

I took notice, and did a side by side scan and sure enough, they could be siblings.

I have a free GF account, for life, yet have never used it.

As Brenda stated, its confusing and difficult to use.

You don't need to use a program.

All you need is an understanding on how to reach your audience, capture their interest, and give them something they want!

Rudy

Hi Rudi

Groove in beta phase was really bad at the time and not really usable tbh. It evolved a lot since.

Rudi I agree with you and disagree with you at the same time. Yes, I agree that you just need to know what customers want and provide it, true.

But I always also too quickly dismissed the importance of a proper funnel building tool in the past not realising its power/sophistication when it comes to the creation of upsells, downsells, order bumps and at the same time the capture of emails in the process.

Yes email marketing software like Getresponse etc. can certainly help with capturing emails but lacks the ability when it comes to the creation of more sophisticated funnels which includes up sells, down sells, order bumps etc.

Yes without funnel builders you can attempt likewise but it will be a struggle and you will need other kinds of plugins like CartFlows for WordPress etc. to try achieve some of the functionality of a funnel builder, but depending how sophisticated your funnels are it may be more trouble than it is worth to try and replicate.

Thank you for your valuable input and time. It is much appreciated!

Ps. I certainly agree though that it can be a learning curve and I do think some of these tools still needs to be perfected (made easier to use) as I do find some of them not always as user-friendly as I would like. But maybe it is just coz I am still very new at this πŸ€”

I did use both. Too much hype. Both waste of money, not user-friendly for me. I use systeme at io, includes email and other features. Another one I like is OptmizePress. Both of them don't market the hype, nor is it a high ticket platform. Too much hype and you pay a lot of money only to be more confused on how to use the platform. Simple is better without the hype.

Hi Brenda, I know Systeme IO to be a good option. In regards to ClickFunnels I was referring to the brand new ClickFunnels 2.0 that was built from the ground up and only released this weekend and not ClickFunnels 1.0, but I know I was taking a chance asking about something so recently released.

I am just very curious to know how the new ClickFunnels 2.0 performs in comparison and whether worth my attention or not.

I do hear you in terms of hype when only considering the funnel builders itself. I guess in a software like GrooveFunnels case it may become worth it when considering aspects like webinars, live streams, e-commerce functionality etc. (If you need it) and if you have a lifetime premium+ GrooveFunnels membership then can become worth it over time as you never have to pay ever again and also provides great incentives from an affiliate perspective.

Brenda, out of interest. Does Systeme IO also allow/support membership sites?

Many thanks for your valuable time and input. Much appreciated!

Schalk, Systeme dot io is everything that Clickfunnels has but at a lower price without all the hype.

The owner of Systeme dot io is a straightforward man. He keeps it simple.

They seem to be able to do e-commerce, make membership sales, and everything that Clickfunnels has.

Schalk, feel free to look at the site. You can sign up for free and if you like it, subscribe. I used the free version for a while until I decided to get the monthly plan.

I am at $47 a month, which includes the evergreen webinar. That is still cheaper than the two plans that CF has.

Hey, do not get me wrong. I like Russell. He is a marketer. He needs to make a lot of money because he knows he is facing fierce competition with other funnel builders.

So to beat it, he now gets celebrity in the business world. Tony Robbins is involved, so the more he does that, the more money it costs them to advertise, and they have to sell high-ticket FHL events, and all that hefty upsells. The new plan is going at almost 2k for a year with the Shark Tank guy, Daymond. And all the other Real Estate gurus.

I do not like Groovefunnels because it's the same guy who built and left Karta to create this one. Again, Mike F is another marketer with all the hype. Too much pink involved!

Look at Kyle and Carson. Do they boast all the hype like these guys? We do not see that. Kyle and Carson are so humble. They know they do not need to glorify themselves with all this marketing hype and hot advertising for the show and tell. Simplicity is better. Kyle preaches that a lot now.

Many thanks for all the valuable input. That is what is great about putting questions out here as you get a balanced view in perspective that then helps aid decision making or calms the fears of "Am I missing out".

I think you are right, as long as you have a decent enough funnel building tool then you should simply consider price.

I have got the GrooveFunnels Premium+ lifetime account so I guess I will just stick to Groove then for funnel creation, as nothing more to pay for life, and as you rightly pointed out - just choose a (one) solution.

Exactly. Keep it simple. Any more that you add is just fluff that you don't need. Just stay away from the hype that is what attracts people to go for the shiny object when it's not needed. I have my free GF account but like Rudy said he never use it, me too. I never use it. I'm using Systeme dot io and it's simple and affordable. I am more for the user experience and that what systems dot io provides. Take care, have a great week.

True and wishing you a great week too!

Hey Schalk,

If you are referring to links you want to add in a post you shared on LinkedIn, it would be better for you to get that information from the LinkedIn support staff.

In your discussion with Joe, you said you couldn't find that information anywhere on the internet.

There was even a forum discussion that appeared ranked below LinkedIn's own guides in my SERP. See screen print below...

Hope you find this helpful.

Thanks for your help but this is exactly my frustration. Some of the links looks relevant but when you open them up the information is very limited and nowhere does anyone talk about how you can configure a link in Linkedin articles so that it opens in a new tab.

See screenshot below. They just state the very obvious steps in creating a post but no more.

So will probs have to contact support I guess.

Again they state the obvious but go no deeper than that.

Thank you Schalk.

Did you reach out to LinkedIn's support too, regarding this?

Thank you! Not yet.

Hey Schalk, none of the tutorials in the search were of any help?

Haha Joe I can't even seem to find it on the internet. If I find the solution I will straight away create a YouTube video with instructions on how to do it as cannot believe it is just me struggling with this.

I typed in "opening links in a new tab in linkedin" and it came up with 3 or 4 in the top search bar.

Did I maybe just assume there is no info out there on the internet so will be none here either πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Thanks. Let me have a look.

I looked at some of those now and they all seem to point to WordPress pretty much. Still not too sure how I would or can do it in Linkedin, but sure I will figure it out sooner or later. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!

I checked around and nobody else is having that issue. Might be job for "super support" lol.

Hi Joe. If you say no one else is having that issue do you mean that when they create articles in Linkedin and have links in their Linkedin articles that it just automatically opens up in a new tab?

Yep

I see. Let me private message it to you so you can maybe check for me if it is just maybe coz it is my own article it happens to me, but that won't make any logical sense lol. I will send it quick then you can let me know if the links opens up in the same tab or in a new tab for you. Many thanks! Much appreciated!

Issue now sort of resolved. Is a Linkedin issue according to Kyle. See screenshots. Many thanks!

Glad to hear Schalk :)!

Many thanks, Jeff! Happy 2022 to you too!

You're very welcome, Schalk, and thank you!

This sounds like it is set up pretty well. Just be careful not to bombard with emails. If you’re content is good and valuable and entertaining, they will not see it as a bombardment and will see it as valuable.

The key is certainly providing value. The issue though is that if they subscribe to multiple email lists and in all those email lists you have emails scheduled to go out via autoresponders, then it can become a bombardment and exactly the issue I am looking to find a solution for. Also I am not too sure as yet if all of those lists will have unique emails setup as my idea was to only have the first 5 emails or so unique to what it is they signed up for and then have generic online marketing emails from there.

I see. Yes, I understand your challenge. Automation can easily get out of hand.

I am using Kartra for my landing pages and email automation. They use tagging in their system as well as list.

I am technically challenged, so I probably am not the person to help you on this. Sorry. πŸ˜† lol

Many thanks! I will explore tagging a bit too to see how helpful it may possibly be in this regard. Thanks for mentioning that.

Hi

You probably need review the set up. Procedure is great as you are describing however the set up may be not.

Folks who joins Jaaxy will also be listed in your Referrals tab.

Or they join WA directly.

You cannot force anyone to do anything.

It can take up to 7 times before someone enact action.

Yes of course you cannot force anyone to do anything. Maybe my word choice was not great. What I meant is to take away alternative options. So they still have a choice of course if they want more information or not or whether to subscribe or not which is a given.

My big problem is that how do you avoid the same person to subscribe to multiple of your email lists? As I do not want to bombard them with emails, should this happen. The reason for the various email lists as mentioned is that I would like to target their specific interests, but not sure if I am making it way too complicated in doing it this way.

What do you do? Do you just have one generic email list?

Its called segmented lists. What autoresponder are you using?
Having different segments is in most good autoresponders so you simply subscribe them to different lists depending on where they optin from.
It is usually not possible to stop a person from subscribing to multiple lists. It probably wouldn't happen often and if a person is keen to be on more than 1 of your lists, why worry about that?

I agree with you John, there has been instances where I did.

I wanted to know lots.

But the way I understood it it is subscribing to one list and ending up in another. Or may be I got it wrong.

Anyhow overall the way it is described it is great procedure.

You cannot avoid, I have done it myself multiple times, because I am eager to learn about the business I was seeking.

It is then their choice, they want to get bombarded. You should not feel guilty, however more look forward into converting possible leads.

With everything, it need be tested what works and what doesn't . Keep the good, discard the rest.

I rather have specifics or as John has stated, "Segmented Lists"

Good advice, thanks! There is no magic formula it seems. Need to figure out what works for me.

Hi John, I use Getresponse and have the segmented list option. Segmentation is not the problem but the practicality of it is, but maybe you can help me here in how you think this could/should work?

Question 1: Do you think it is a bad idea to only allow visitors to click through from your article to a landing page with compelling information on the product and asking them to subscribe should they want more detailed information on the product or would like to know how/where to obtain it? Do you think there should be a direct affiliate link option too that takes them straight away to the Jaaxy website for example? What do you think is best practise? What do you do for your articles? This is keeping in mind that the money is in the list and your aim is to try think about methods to get as many subscribers as possible.

Question 2: Segmented lists are great but now here is the problem. For each segmented list will I offer a complete unique set of autoresponder emails for each segmented list? For example for Jaaxy signups should your autoresponder set of emails mostly have to do with keyword research and keyword research tools and should your WA segmented list autoresponder set have more to do with online marketing platforms like WA itself and similar like Legendary Marketer, Groove Funnels etc.

So in the end if you have 7 different products you are selling as an affiliate then you have 7 different segmented lists each with its own set of unique autoresponder emails? Or will you just have a generic autoresponder set of emails regardless of the segmentation? In other words just put the same generic online marketing related emails in the different segmented lists besides maybe the 1st couple of emails which should be specific to the product they signed up to get more information about?

So you see John, here is the problem. If the emails in my segmented lists are not going to be unique, but generic, besides the first couple of emails that will be related to the specific product that made them subscribe - then they will receive the same generic emails twice if they sign up to two of my email segmented lists.

Now to take it one step further. Let us say someone signed up to my Jaaxy list. I have now provided them with more info on where to obtain Jaaxy etc. Three emails later I want to introduce this person on my Jaaxy list to WA and in the email I have a link that takes them to my WA review article. But when they read the WA article the link in the article only takes them to a landing page once again where they are asked to subscribe should they wish to be sent more detailed info on WA. So now this person on my Jaaxy list has no other option really but to sign up to my WA list too. And this is now where I get stuck if you know what I mean.

So basically the way it is set up then, each new product I will introduce to my list will put them in a position where they will have to sign up to a different list too for more info.

The reason also for the segmented lists are that when they sign up to request more information about Jaaxy for example I would like to come up on the thank you page with a personalised video just briefly telling them about my experience with Jaaxy and that I can fully vouch for it and next they will meet someone called Kyle that will provide them with more info on Jaaxy etc.

Or is it perhaps a solution to just add all my subscribers from segmented lists to my main generic subscription list with the applicable autoresponder setup after they saw the specific thank you page and received the initial important email with more info on the product they signed up to?

Conclusion:

John, as you can see I am just quite a bit confused at the moment on what is best practise here and how you would have done it. Maybe I am just making it much more complicated for myself than it has to be. Will be interested to hear your thoughts.

I think I figured it out for myself now :) Thanks for brainstorming everyone!

I of course do not have to have autoresponders setup in my segmented lists besides the thank you email and the initial applicable email or two. Will then add these people to my generic online marketing list which got a proper autoresponder sequence setup.

If I want to target a specific segmented group with a very specific offer, then I can just email that list any time.

Many thanks once again!

Yes, you'd figure it out.

And you're very welcome.

I am an affiliate for a big merchant via Share A Sale but they keep on fluctuating between online and offline.

Apparently Share A Sale requires merchants to have funds

FYI, found out that the issue with the merchant was that someone had some sales that were so huge they wiped out multiple deposits by the merchant in a heartbeat. Yup, someone earned some huge commissions.

Everything has been resolved with this merchant and all is working just as it should.

Oh my, Christmas came early for someone lol. I hope I will have Christmas with them too lol. Thank you so much for explaining that this is quite an unusual situation and not the norm. I am new to the Share A Sale platform so my first impression was that this may be the norm, which it is not and so glad to hear that.

Thank you very much for resolving this issue for me so quickly and thank you for your effort in finding me a UK merchant too. It is all very much appreciated!

Hi Schalk, your post has helped me to understand what the messages are that appear when I open my Share A Sale account.

I've been seeing the ' ------has low funds' and did not understand what that meant. I took that the messages related to non-commissions on my part.

I've been with Share A Sale for just a few months and find their platform very different from other affiliate programmes. However, I have read some positive comments from other affiliates, which is helpful.

I hope things soon improve with your account.

If you ever need help with anything on the ShareASale platform, just let me know. I'll be glad to help.

Low funds warnings are just notices that the funds in the merchant's account are approaching the threshold. The vast majority of merchants have their programs set on automatic deposit, so things just keep running along without interruption.

Thanks very much, Jeannine. I appreciate your offer of help. It's good to know that you're happy to be approached, if needed.

And, thanks also for your explanation of notices regarding merchant's accounts.

I am grateful to Jeannine that resolved this for me quick time and on top of this also found me a similar UK merchant. I am also delighted to hear that this was out of the ordinary and not the norm.

Hey Schalk, I'm the ShareASale rep here on Wealthy Affiliate, so I'm glad to jump in.

Yes, we do require merchants to have funds on account to pay commissions to publishers; it's our way to ensure that affiliates will receive their commissions! We require our merchants to place either an account or credit card on file so that we can withdraw funds whenever their account balance reaches a specific threshold.

Some merchants have plenty of funds available, others have less.

However, with everything going on with Covid, we've also seen a huge spike in sales! That's good, but some companies run out of funds quickly because their products are selling so fast.

We always notify them immediately about low funds or going offline. Some act more quickly than others for sure.

Based on what you are showing, I think that this company is indeed experiencing huge sales numbers, and thus needs to increase their threshold and their deposit each time. I'll see what I can do to alert them to that.

If you aren't happy with this merchant, I'm glad to help you find a different one. We have 6,000+ merchants on ShareASale alone.

Many thanks Jeannine! This is much appreciated and I do have better understanding now of what is going on and that it is indeed the spike of sales that is causing the issue and not the other way around that the business is struggling financially, which I did not expect to be the case, as they are a big merchant and the specific niche I would expect sales to peak during lockdown.

Jeannine, I will therefore be patient now that I have better understanding. It was just very frustrating to see broken links around my site displayed as not a good look and not sure whether to remove all the banners or to keep them as I know I would have to put them back soon once the affiliate program is up and running again.

As they are such a big merchant I will not abandon them yet, unless this continues to be a problem, then it may not be feasible.

I am desperately looking for a UK merchant similar to the USA merchant, but not easy to find at all. If you are aware of a similar UK merchant then it will be much appreciated!

Kind regards
Schalk

Hi Schalk, how do you find your affiliate links are broken? If you click on them they dont refer to the website?

Broken links are a totally different issue. ShareASale does offer a report on that, if you have a concern, so that you can fix any links which might have an issue.

Ok thanks Jeannine, I don't think I have an issue, I was just not sure of the case was that links wouldnt work when the merchant is offline?
One of the merchants I am affiliate with, pop on and offline a lot too but I was unsure of this was relevant for me that links wouldn't work when they would be ofline.
Jude

Yes, Jude. If the vendor have no funds there is a Share A Sale message coming up stating that the vendor in currently offline. So yes, when people click your links or banners during this time you will only see the Share A Sale error message pop up and it will not click through to the vendors' website.

And I know what you meant when you referred to the links as being broken and I do understand Jeannine's view of broken links being different too.

But yes in the context of how you meant it, the links does behave as if it is "broken" when the vendor has no funds in his Escrow, as the link will not click through to the vendors' website.

Thanks a lot for explaining schalk, I appriciated it.
Jude

Glad I could assist, Schalk! I love helping anyone, anytime!

Yes this happened to me awhile ago, it was quite frustrating. I kind of thought that it was because of the niche I chose. I was getting ready to sign up for some other share-a-sale merchants for another niche but I'll be sure to check their funds status. Thanks a lot for sharing this.

Thanks for letting me know and you are most welcome!

In the profile of each ShareASale merchant, you can see their funds history - when the last time was that they were offline. This is shown for every merchant on ShareASale.

I agree, that can be a definite factor in who you choose to work with.

I have the same issue with a merchant by share a sale, but I was not aware that my affiliate links are not working when they are low on fundsπŸ€”

Yes the history shows low on funds first and then next moment the affiliate merchant is offline. So not sure if they go offline when their funds are low or when they are completely out of funds. But it will probs make sense that they go offline when their funds are low already as may not be enough funds available to pay out the next commission in full.

Hmm, quite devastating. My main and favourite merchant is in this position too....

Hopefully your favourite merchant keeps their Escrow account loaded lol.

yes fingers crossed, and your merchant too....

Many thanks!

Your links continue to work always. Sales will only stop tracking if the merchant completely runs out of money. Usually the merchants add funds pretty quickly, because they don't want affiliates to stop promoting their programs!

That is a relief to hear. Thank you for that clarification Jeannine.
