Video Pins On Pinterest Now Available
Maybe I am just oblivious to the fact that this feature has been available for some time but I have not seen any posts here or anyone mentioning this fantastic new feature that Pinterest released, the ability to create video pins.
I guess if this is new news to me then hopefully it will be new news to many of you as well, so I just wanted to inform you all of this fantastic new Pinterest feature in case you were not aware. And just to be clear, I am talking about being able to upload video pins to Pinterest directly from your computer, I am not talking about sharing a Youtube video link on Pinterest.
Video Pin Requirements
File type: .mp4, .mov or .m4v
File size: 2GB Max
Encoding: H.264 or H.265
Length: 4 seconds - 15 minutes
Description: up to 500 characters long, although only the first few lines will show in feed.
Aspect ratio: Accomodates standard video size including widescreen (16:9), square (1:1) and vertical (9:16) or (4.5) or (2:3)
Conclusion
I apologise if this is old news to many. However I think this is a great new game changing feature from Pinterest and whereas you can only upload 1 minute max video playtime on Instagram posts, Pinterest allows for an upload time of up to 15 minutes.
However I just found out that Instagram is rolling out a new feature called IGTV and this feature will allow for up to 10 minute video upload and for those that have larger accounts will even be able to upload up to 60 minute videos. More on this later - might do a post on IGTV at some point.

This is news to me. I have only just learnt to make a widget of a board to put on other sites, not got as far as video yet,

I am glad it is news to someone, Linda lol. But yes this is a massive game changer because this means so much more traffic via video and video can be very targeted. If only short video uploads were possible then I would not have been that excited about this, but the fact that you can upload up to a 15 minute video gives you such a great opportunity in getting your message across.

I was not aware of this and just saw your post on it, Schalk. Thanks for the info! It sounds like YT has some competition. I'll keep this in mind since my target audience hangs out on Pinterest. Being able to upload a 15 minute video is great! Thanks again! :)
