Scammer Alert!

I just wanted to do a very quick post just to remind everyone to be so careful online. There is a saying if it is too good to be true then it usually is. But deep inside, all of us want to believe that there is a miracle shortcut to generate a big amount of money quickly and this is exactly what online scammers exploit. They play on our emotions. We all know deep inside there is no shortcut, yet people that fall for scams is because they so much want to believe that their financial circumstances will change for the better in the blink of an eye, even though they probably know the truth deep inside, that there is no overnight rich schemes.

I created an Instagram account for my online marketing training niche website and I followed someone on Instagram which in turned followed me. This person then started to private message me to ask me if I would like to invest in what she called "Bitcoin Forex Trading". She was talking about, pretty guaranteed, that she can earn me $800 within 14 days on an investment of a $100 but she keeps 15% of profits as commission.

Long story short she basically wants you to buy bitcoin and pay it into her bitcoin e-wallet and will then use that to do trading and in doing so earn you money. When you look at her pictures on Instagram you see her at her private plane and all pictures just oozes wealth.

But hold on ....

When you start forgetting about the startling figures and the private jet etc. and you start thinking logically of what she is actually asking you to do. The stranger is asking you to pay Bitcoin into her e-wallet without any documents signed as proof of your investment and we all know how difficult Bitcoin is to trace, which means once you hand it over, that money is as good as gone. If you think carefully about this, it is no different than giving money to a complete stranger on the street for you to invest. You will never do that , yet surprisingly there are a lot of people falling for these kind of scams online, otherwise the person would never waste their time contacting people via Instagram.

Confirmation of this being a scam ...

After some discussion I politely declined to invest and the person on the other side then became very abusive calling me a mother fuc###, a son of a b### and much worse for no reason at all, simply because I did not fall for the scam. Simply for declining.

This was absolute confirmation that this was indeed a scam as there was absolutely no professionalism or respect here at all which resulted in me mentioning "how professional?", this is clearly a scam, which resulted of course in more abuse.

I am perfectly convinced that those images on Instagram was fake and I very much even doubt if the person on the other side was even female.

What to take from this post?

Besides being very careful online and to keep in mind if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is, is that you are in the right place here at WA. Kyle is telling you the truth that nothing comes for nothing. Only hard work and dedication will bring success and financial prosperity.

So stop looking around, if you are, for that shiny object. It does not exist! Start knuckling down and start building your success without the distraction of the so called shiny object syndrome. There are a lot of scammers waiting to play on our emotions and wanting to offer us that shiny object that does not exist.

Stop and think ....

logical thoughts. Think with your brain and not your emotions before making decisions.

Wishing you the very best of success and remember only hard work and dedication will bring you the success that you are looking for!

Very true be careful!
Claudio

So true. Thanks for the great post, Schalk. :)

You are most welcome! Wishing you the very best of success here on WA!

Great points all around.

Recently someone who I was introduced to in my state said they were coming to my city for their son who was starting college here.
She knew I made websites and did online marketing as well as being retired.
After she arrived she contacted me about coffee and wanted to know more about what I did. My first thoughts were showing her Wealthy Affiliate and talk about affiliate marketing.

The way she said it I knew she was working a business along with her day job. I am openminded and figured lets chat.

After meeting, and a few minutes she went right into talking about here side business Usana! LOL! As she started to talk I could tell she had drunk the Koolaid on MLM !

She did not know I have over 25 years of experience in MLM with very good and very poor success. Point is that as soon as I became contrary to her compensation plan, the defenses came up, and others to talk with etc. etc. Nothing about what I had to offer.

Since then many emails to me with links, videos etc, and relentless. I gave her my business card and a website. She will not acknowledge mine at all.
Wished her the best and gave her suggestions on how to promote online so not to speak in person since as she said it is not her strong ability.
Is it a scam like you stated no, but it shows there are so many who get upset when we do not get involved with them in another shiny deal.

Keep strong, and keep working consistently, I tell those who get bombarded with other plans, and programs of making money.
The success will come and be much more fruitful and satisfying.

Absolutely! Lol. Thanks for sharing.

One of the benefits of not having any money or owning anything is it make sit hard for people to scam me out of it! :)

Seriously though, I have been taken prey by some of these people and it hurts because you really want to believe their story.

Thanks for the warning! Glad you didn't fall for it and sorry that she (he or it) was so abusive to you.

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

I like the "it" part in your last sentence, lol. I found that very funny!! LOL!! Many thanks for your contribution.

Wow. It really amazes me, just how many scammers are out there. Shame on them. It's unfortunate for the ones who fall into the scams, but as you said, people often have hope that there is a pot of gold out there waiting to be found and it can be easy to slip into the "what if" mind frame if you're not careful.

It takes a strong mind to do what we do. Mindset. Hard work. Perseverance. Those are the things that lead to true wealth. Good reminder this morning.

The most clever and worst scam I ever fell for is.... I was selling one of my domain names on Godaddy and I got contacted via email that there was interest to buy my domain but he is buying on behalf of a client. The client for which he buys domain properties apparently have deep pockets etc. but would like my website to be certified before buying. In a very clever way they recommended some options (familiar ones like Sedo etc.) also but managed to subtly steer me in the direction of a specific company that does certification and mentioned that this is the preference of the buyer as dealt with this company before. I am making the deception sound a bit simpler than it is, but believe me subtly this option just stood out as the best option to get my domain certified. Guess what? The company that certifies belongs to the scammer that pretended that he wanted to buy my website domain on behalf of his client. LOL! So I lost the money I paid for fake certification of my website domain. :) :) Very clever scam though.

Wow. I mean, how do those people sleep at night? It blows my mind that people will knowingly, purposefully, trick others into giving them money for something. That's not any form of sales or marketing. That's straight up conning and stealing. Had I been in that situation, I would have probably thought the same as you did because it was a clever scam - very realistic to think that was a legit scenario. We live and learn, huh?

Yes especially because I was daily visiting a site called domain name journal during that time which shows you how much domain names sold for and on which platforms. Some of those domain names sold for crazy amounts and to a degree the worth of a domain is in the eye of the beholder. So yes that tipped the scale in the favour of the scammer as I was influenced by what I saw on domain name journal at the time.

The worst part is the so called charities...
Never give them...
Better help your neighbour than a far fraude

So true!

Hi,
Yhep they are in full force. Make sure you block her from your IG. They are nothing more than desperados.

I have tons of messages in my messages. I ignore them or offer what I do lol.
They don't like that much but it might stick in there mind when they realise their scams don't work and try a better option.

Thank you for the heads up though too. Always love to keep up with the scams.
Keeps us above all the nonsense.
Debs :)

There is nothing that I despise more than people exploiting the emotions of people that are desperate for money trying to search for online solutions only to steal from them and make their financial crisis even more dire than it was before. Especially those that are new online and have no experience in regards to the very deceptive, crafty scams out there.

I have deleted "her" off my IG.

Wishing you all the best here on WA!
