Make sure you checked "use authentication on outgoing mail" and entered the correct credentials.
I just typed "authentication failed" into the search box at the top and found these posts, hopefully they're of some use: What does authentication failed in webmail mean? Email log in authentication failed? What does "authentication failed" mean regarding my e-mail? Why did my new email say "authentication failed"? I am getting "authentication failed" message when I try to send an email. how do I fix this?
