So, I Upgraded.

I didn't end up at Wealthy Afffililiate on my own volition. A friend introduced me to the community and pushed and prodded me into signing up. My friend is a go-getter. He is mad keen to set-up his own online affiliate marketing business. And not being confident with computers ... yet, he enlisted me for help. He has grand plans.

My plans here at Wealthy Affiliate are a lot less clear. My friend wants me to build an empire with him. I don't think I have the same drive as he has but I do love the idea of supplementing my income with affiliate marketing. I guess I just have my reservations about whether I can put it into practice effectively.

On the Downside

I'm time poor.

I'm a full-time teacher with all of the stress and rigmarole that comes with such a profession. Because I'm in a salaried position my employer has expectations that I work outside of business hours - whether it be lesson preparation, or marking, or self-paced professional development.

I also have a family with young children. So there's the added responsibilities of parenthood and domestic life.

Add in a side serving of self mandated daily exercise and there's not much time left for an online business.

I KNOW I'm not alone here. I'm not a crying martyr. In time I'll search the blog section here and see how others manage their time.

On the Upside

I've blogged before.

I've managed websites and hosting before albiet in an amateur fashion. I'm also familiar with CMS, having worked with Joomla.

I can string a sentence together even if it's without much flair.

I consider myself a 'lifelong learner'. There's an attitude that come with such an outook and I believe it's an advantage in all walks of life.

The Challenge

So here I am. I don't know if I should follow my passions and focus my energy on a couple of websites featuring content I love to write about

OR

Set up 15 websites dedicated to 'weight loss' focused affiliate sales.

Maybe both? Although, I doubt there's time for both. No doubt the next stage of WA training, just like my friend did, will push me in the right direction.

Time is truly a valuable commodity.

All the best!

Sounds like a time management challenge, Daniel, but no worries--you'll figure it out--your blogging experience already gives you a leg-up over many starters here! wise decision on your upgrade, my friend, and best success to you here in WA for 2020!

Jeff

My personal view is that you need to weight your goals, not your friend’s versus the time and effort you can put in.

I am of the view, a great website generating consistent income is better than many if you cannot maintain them.

Cheers,
Stanley

You are absolutely correct. It's important to dictate your own terms in life wherever possible. Having said that I've made three commitments to myself regarding my premium membership.
1. Help my friend complete his training and be able to 'fly solo'.
2. Complete the training myself (1 & 2 go hand in hand really)
3. Get my own website up and running.
After this I'll reassess.
Empire building isn't really on my radar, for now :)

That is great. Set your own path and what you want to achieve.

Way to go. Congrats. Life sometimes has a lot of unexpected great things.
