The Importance of Short Term & Long Term Money Goals

I am fairly new to the online business world, and unfortunately have been caught up in what is known as “shiny object syndrome,” as I’m sure a lot of people have. But this morning I decided that I would take today to really take a step back and really look at my goals, and look at them closely.

I love the Money Goals discussion in WA because it asks people to take a look at why they are here, and what they hope to achieve here. But I wanted to go deeper, so I sat down and really thought about what I’m aiming for, and how I plan to get there.

I thought about my husband, who works tirelessly 50+ hours a week to support my son and I. Envisioned a future where we can both spend the majority of our time together as a family, going to the beach, playing with our boy, and traveling when we wanted. When he can finally have the time to start his custom carpentry business, something he has wanted to do for over ten years. I daydreamed about us finally breaking free of the rent game, and buying our own home. These long term goals are first on my list, and I think about them every single day.

As far as short term goes, I think of our every day worries of when to pay what bill, how to budget our grocery list, and finally replacing our 5 year old coffee maker! These goals may be smaller, but as I reach them, they give me that extra tiny push I need to keep working toward my long term goals.

These short term and long term goals are financially based, of course, but they’re are so much more than that. Everything I want to accomplish is part of how I want my family to live. Spending time with my boys, making memories that count, and not being so burdened by the financial worries that my parents dealt with as I was being brought up.

These goals are what brought me here, and these are the goals that will keep me pushing until the day I reach each one of them. So let me ask you, why are you here?

Why am I here?
Of course, to be financially free just like everyone else! Plus to be independent.

Great goals, keep at it. Making memories is so important, they are only little once. Mine, even in their 30's, enjoy reminders of the things that they did as kids. And my grandchildren love the fact that their parents were naughty too.
All the best
