Why are the holidays so stressful? Make this work so they can get better.
It seems everyone is stressed out over the holidays! It is time, money, effort, working out family disagreements on how things should be carried out. Then there are split families where people need to have multiple celebrations at multiple people's houses.
I suspect part of the problem is that so many of us have to work regular jobs and then still pull off a traditional feast. It is hard enough to get through the work week without the expectation to produce an 8-10 course meal, have your house clean and have family staying with you from out of town!
If we still lived in a society where we actually lived at home rather than at work or commuting to work or getting ready for work it sure would be easier! Maybe if I can make my online business a real job someday I can do that!!!!!
I can't complain, I am not hosting Thanksgiving this year!!!!!!!!!! This is such a relief since I have to work the day before and the day after! We do however have my in-laws staying with us from out of town. And somehow the holiday has become stressful through no fault of theirs.
Christmas is the same story...work, have Christmas somehow...go back to work! What a stressful life we lead now. How are we supposed to relax and enjoy the holidays when they are crammed into one day in the middle of the workweek like Thanksgiving! Yes, we could take time off in this case but I have used all my leave being sick and I am very busy at work anyway, so that is not realistically an option.
Lets make this work so we can have better holidays in the future.

I guess I'm staying home for Thanksgiving this year again. I'll probably work on my website again this year during the football games even though I have my fantasy teams for just the Thanksgiving games. I hope I win. won some money tonight from the lottery.

Aw, Jessica, sorry the holidays are stressing you out. And here I was thinking Thanksgiving was this beautiful time of overwhelming gratitude and family closeness. Sad to think that the magic is gone because modern life is just so stressful.

Thanks Lauren. We had a great Thanksgiving after all! It was perfect. We were at a friend's house that looks like a Christmas card. They have sled dogs that are so well behaved that stay in the house.

Yes, thanks! I actually had a wonderful Thanksgiving after all since it was at a friend's house. I would love to have more time to host though.
