Some interestig Google ranking facts
https://www.impactbnd.com/blog...
We hear facts about what Google does and does not like all the time. Well here are a few facts according to Ramona Sukhraj on her blog "How Long Does it Take Google to Index a New Page (And 11 Ways to Speed it Up)".
- She says the average font in a #1 ranking post is 15.8! Wow! That sounds large. I guess I need to check mine and adjust!
- She says the average #1 post on Google averages 2,416 words! I have a ways to go!! My longest so far is only 1,313 words. Most of mine are shorter. This seems counterintuitive to me since I know when I look at something online I get annoyed when it is as long as a book and you have to keep scrolling down and down and down and down. If I am looking up something scientific or historical etc. that is ok, but if I just want to see a review of a product or a get an idea for dinner I don't want to read a novel. We have to balance keeping the reader happy with keeping Google happy.
- The average #1 post has 9 images! Once again, I have a long ways to go!
Many of the other points we hear all the time, make it readable, use graphics etc.
I just thought these were some ideas that stood out.
Here is another one that says the average position 1 ranking has 1890 words. http://backlinko.com/search-en...
Happy writing everyone,
Jessica

The bottom line is what counts more to me, not rankings, post length or how many pics used. $$$ is what counts!
These style of posts by various authors all lack detailed analysis, OK 2400+ words with 9 pics - but what is the average difficulty rating for such keywords, the QSR and average monthly searches? and which search engine (google.co.uk, google.com etc etc)? Average post age? average site age? Average DA and PA? Average no of internal and external links (do and nofollow)? Video? Average page and site load time? Average no of inbound links? Average DA of inbound links? Average time spent at 1?
Details..Details..all these type of articles lack details, important details meaning they lack substance.
Yes, I agree. This is just a quick pointer of some basics that we may not all be aware of. It is definitely not intended to be authoritative! The basic concept of pictures and longer posts being a positive still holds true overall.
Absolutely dear, I'd love to see a concise study and analysis.
One of things I look for when I see articles like that is the date due to updates being made all the time could very much leave the report out of date.
Thanks for the info I have seen websites in the number 1 and 2 that are short in length So I would take the info as basic.
Yes, this is an average. There are exceptions to every rule. You need to tailor your length to your topic and audience.
While this is interesting I am not so sure it is credible information. Google does rank you higher for 1,000+ word blogs according to Moz. Bu here is a more credible source that will give you a better idea of their algorithm.

Thanks. According to an article in Forbes citing a study by serpIQ, top Google posts have over 2,000 words. There are many reputable sources that say this and also that the 2,400 word average is indeed correct.
Of course you have to tailor your content (and length) to your audience and topic. Different lengths may get more traffic, more shares, more comments etc.
