So happy with new Amazon commission structure!
Many people were complaining about the changes to the Amazon commission structure earlier this year. I was busy moving to a new community and buying a home while working at that time so I really didn't pay any attention. I realized recently I had never compared the old and new commission structure!
I noticed my commissions seemed much higher but I didn't look closely. I recently discovered the new commission fee for pet products in Amazon is 8%!!! That is huge since it started at 4% previously and then went up to 6% and higher as you made enough sales in a month. To reach 8% however, I would have had to make over 600 sales in a month! I am sorry but no matter how optimistic I want to be that was never going to happen at this stage in my business! I only get a handful of sales per month (this last few weeks has been an exception with 12!).
So, for me, the change in Amazon's fee structure is huge!! Now some categories of products get lower fees so it was not a good thing for everyone. I am just lucky I happen to be in one of the higher commission niches for Amazon since they are my primary affiliate company.

Most of the fees have changed. It is not just pet products. I don't know about others though specifically. Basically the previous structure was based on both type of product and how many you sold per month. The new structure is a flat fee regardless of number sold and the fee has changed also.
Depending on what you sell it may have gone up or down.
Yes Jessica, the Amazon commission is great for the two of us, each with our pet niche.

I joined UK Amazon by using the One Link and was interested to see their commission rate for Pet supplies is 7 per cent. Still a good rate compared with other niches.
It is lower Jessica. I only signed up for UK. I didn't include Canada because I don't have a great following there, but it might suit you.

I was one of those complaining about the change of commission structure (my niche is baby related thus flat 4% fee). However, I still feel grateful that some of the readers coming to Amazon still buy products with 8% fee (such as pet related products). Sounds funny isn't it, that it's not related to baby at all, but those things happen.
I recently had sales of women't shoes and a Christmas DVD...that only gets a 2.5% commission so I understand! It is all different, bu I still really like Amazon Associates.
