So Excited to Interview a Veterinary Cardiologist on My Site!
We took our orange, tabby boy back to the veterinary cardiologist to recheck his heart murmur. It has not changed at all and is stress induced. There is no structural problem with his heart and he is not be any danger. This is great news!
The vet is a specialist who travels around the state doing echocardiograms and other screenings for all kinds of animals. She is a board certified veterinary cardiologist. This takes many years of extra training and testing in addition to a regular veterinary degree.
I asked her last year to do a guest post on my site but she is very busy and did not get around to it. This time she agreed to not one but two posts on my site! She will answer interview questions I give her about what she does in one post in order to spread the word on veterinary cardiology services available to pet owners. In the second post she will discuss a new discovery about certain types of foods that are causing heart disease in dogs. She is very passionate about this topic and anxious to see what exactly is causing the heart disease. It is not a certain ingredient and it is quite a mystery at this time.
I am so excited to have her interview and guest post coming on my site. There are only two veterinary cardiologists in our state! She screens everything from small animals to horses. I want pet owners to know these services are available and what benefits they can provide. For example, heart problems can be dangerous if a pet is going under anesthesia including routine tooth cleaning for dogs and cats. It was because of a pre-dental check that the heart murmur was discovered in our boy. Luckily, his is not severe and should not be a problem. It is a great comfort to get this diagnosis from her since the regular veterinarians can only use a stethoscope and make a rough diagnosis of a heart murmur. Based on what the vet said when it was discovered, this could have been something quite serious. Only by taking a sonogram of the heart can the veterinarian cardiologist get more information and make a more detailed diagnosis. In this case it makes the difference in us being terrified of having our boy's teeth cleaned and worrying what will happen to him in the future, to feeling confident that he is very healthy! What a HUGE relief.
I wrote a post about this last year when we had the first echo cardiogram done of his heart. It was amazing to watch the difference on the screen when I cuddled him and whispered in his ear to calm him down. The heart murmur went away! It is stress induced so the stress of being at the vet can bring it on. It is amazing to see proof that our pets feel and understand our love however. We all know they do but it is quite special to see scientific evidence of this connection!

Yes it is amazing how many people we have around us with good information to share.
We just have to ask them to share, the worst the can do is say no.
But they can very well say yes.
We just have to ask.
Thanks for sharing
Darren
Yes, getting guest posts from specialists in our niche is always a good way to get authority I think.
It's exciting that you got the busy cardiologist to do a couple of posts on your site, Jessica. Hopefully, it will lead to her doing even more posts this year. That's also good news about your tabby. Stress affects pets as adversely as humans. I've seen it with pets that we've rescued. Yes, it's true that going to the vet can be quite a stressful event for our pets.
Continued success to you! :)

Thanks Colleen! Yes, I think it will be great for my site. The more information pet owners have the better.
Thank you for this great post Jessica. I had no idea there are veterinary cardiologists. I look forward to your future interview with the doctor. Best wishes to you and your orange tabby boy.

Thanks Jay! I didn't know about them either before we needed one. The procedure is really simple and doesn't require sedation or anything!
Congratulations Jessica. Finally getting the veterinary cardiologist to do not one, but 2 posts on your site is Huge!
Yes, thanks! Maybe I can talk her into an ongoing series or periodic updates. Certainly helps.
