Smoke is Back with a Vengeance!
We had a lovely repreive from the heat and smoke for a few days. It was blissful to be comfortable finally after weeks of 90 degree temps and thick smoke.
Now the smoke is back and will be bad. It is already in the "unhealthy for sensitive individuals" catagory of air quality and will reach "unhealthy" for everyone.

I will just be trying to manage for the next few days.
The fires are still burning all over the state. This is not surpising considering we have still not had any considerable rain and everything is parched from the heat wave. We had over 6,000 lightening strikes in the state just yesterday and everyday in this heat is a similar story. I am so glad we had a small break and got to enjoy some clean air and comfortabe temps last weekend.

Yes. The smoke is bad here because of several conditions.
First we are stuck between a high and a low pressure system.
Second we have an air inversion holding the smoke down low.
Third we have a breeze blowing smoke up from the large fire to the south and the mountains block it so it all build up here.

I know that I'm not looking forward to the coming spring and summer here in Queensland Australia. Last year we had some severe bush fires. It was the first time in 40 years of living in the sub tropics that We have experienced fires like this. It's usually to humid here and most bad fires occur down south. Thank you Jim. It is frustrating. I live for the summer here and between allergies to the pollen this spring and now the heat and smoke, there has hardly been any summer to enjoy. I have had a headache for 24 hours now from the smoke.
I hope you DON'T get fires this year. I have seen the news stories of the fires in Australia and they are so sad and scary.
