Overtime pay came in handy today.

My husband has been stuck working 12 hour days for the last week...I am just happy he is actually getting paid for overtime now. He was getting leave time instead of overtime pay but they were giving it to him as straight leave, 1 hour for 1 hour. I was pretty sure they were supposed to give it to him as 1.5 hour of leave for each hour of overtime worked. They want to save money of course so they got away with this for quite a while. I am glad someone finally noticed and stopped it. I am not eligible for overtime but my husband is so it is nice if he can actually get it!

So, he was very busy last week working long days and having his parents staying here with us as well.

He has been getting flat tires and he is fed up and finally decided to get a new set of snow (studded) tires today. I am glad he got that overtime since they are over $700.

It seems so hard to actually get ahead...every gain is matched with another expense, like needing plumbers and repairs etc. for the building this summer and needing to get our vehicle towed for repairs or medical bills.

This is why most of us here at WA could use a second (or third) source of income! You never know what expenses might come up on any given day! I am so glad I have a good job and got my first WA premium referrals just last week!

Onward and upward,

Jessica

Thanks David

Jessica onward and upward, It's happening now! The little will increase.

Thanks Louisa!

Hi Jessica, keep doing what you guys are doing. There is an old proverb: Give and it shall be give unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over shall man give unto your bosom!
We are all be bless to be associated with ya.
Sam and Deb, Alaska is in our future, real soon hopefully.

Thanks Sam and Deb. We will make it work one way or the other. Let me know if you want any Alaska suggestions. I have lived here all my life.

We call this "sods law" in our household and it happens a lot. Don't ask me where it comes from, it's a saying I have always known.
Hopefully no more extra expenses for you now.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Yes, well, at least we bought the 4-plex so can weather these extra expenses better than we would have been able to before but it is amazing how every extra increase always seems to be matched by an equal or larger expense. Now the city wants to install another gas tax, the state wants to add an income tax, the city raised property taxes at the exact same time we bought this place, so we will pay $10,000 in property taxes this year! Of course we already have federal taxes and utilities have gone up too!

Ouch !

Hey the Long Tailed Swangirl,
Cleverly narrated your hubby's overtime pay and ended up with your Referral's premium incentive.

Wish I received incentives from my referrals too.

I like that technique.

Thanks, I have only had family and friend referrals so far.

I SO hear you. Some days it feels like two steps forward, and one step back! We had just looked forward to paying off a few debts when a series of unfortunate events played out. A workplace electrocution, more than one incident of dog poisoning.

I guess that's life.

But I am resolved to not let that get in the way of any grand plans and projects. We are indeed moving forward, even when it's only slow progress. It wouldn't feel right or logical to say - we are no longer going to build beautiful things, because of those wacky life interruptions.

Your husband's overtime hours being compensated as leave time - oh - I have gone through this very thing! Happy for the extra hours, but there are days I have made peace with a senior decision to have extra leave hours allotted to me instead. (sighs)

Dog poisoning sounds terrible! I am so sorry. I am glad we don't have anything serious with our pets at least. Our cats are overdue for the vet though.

Thanks Ivy!

Thanks Jessica. We narrowly made it to the animal hospital in time for stomach pumping (for both dogs) only a few weeks ago. It was touch and go! And then the bill was calculated... it was lucky for us there was a repayment plan available. Such is life!

I am glad they were saved. I hope things go better for you now.

Things are looking up roses Jessica. Now your husbands earnings factor in you can really release your creativity!

If he survives it! He barely gets to each lunch many days. I would rather he got a different job.

Hi Jessica! Remember me!? Glad to connect, again! It sounds so busy in your household, as most of us experience the same similar circumstances. So happy to hear that your husband is finally being paid what he's worth! Keeping up with the rat race out there can be tedious. Everyone is trying to save money, and in the process are paying their workers much less than is expected and deserved.

Congrats on your first Premium referrals! I am yet to have any, but am keeping the process going and hopefully before long, I will too.

Wishing you all the best on your continued journey toward financial freedom! See you around again!

Of course I remember you! How are you doing? How are your sites? Yes, I was very glad to get my first referrals. Both are to family and friends.
