New Multi-Perspective Answer Snippets on Bing!
I saw that one of my very first website posts from 3 years ago had suddenly surged up the rankings to #7 on Google. Now I often have posts go straight to the first page of the search engines (and many #1 and #2 posts) but this old one had been lingering down low for quite some time. I went to Bing and Yahoo and saw it was at the number 2 spot. I was very happy.
Today I looked again and see that this post is now #2 on Google and Yahoo and is one of two featured snippets on Bing! The other one is from PetMD. This is interesting. I didn't know Bing did multiple featured snippets. I looked into it and discovered this is a new thing call "multi- perspective answers". They give two answers from different perspectives to the same question instead of Google's approach of having a featured snippet.
I was quite excited that my old post is suddenly one of these featured multi-perspective answers (snippets basically) on Bing! I have been very lucky to get many featured snippets on Google and Bing but not with my oldest posts before.
When I saw it was at #7 on Google and #2 on the others a few days ago I went back and edited the post and added a featured image and an internal link. Voila! Here is a shot of the result. The second entry is my post which they have as the second of the multi-perspective answers. The third entry is another one of my posts which in position #1 of the regular search results. Notice the bullet points in the multi-perspcetive answers? I do not have bullet points in my post...hmmmm...this is new. Bing must add those in!
Also note, in this old post I used the Amazon name but I do not do that anymore. I will take out references to Amazon to make sure I stay on their good side. Using their name can go against their rules.
You never know when an old post could suddenly bubble up to the top of the search engine rankings!

I was surprised to read what you mentioned about not using Amazon's name. In my affiliate marketing website, I have at least 3 posts about Amazon, which include various procedures such as setting up an Associates account, placing images on Amazon and others that don't come to mind just now.
Yes, but that is about how to use Amazon. You are not talking about using Amazon's name on a site where you are selling Amazon products. I have to review their rules but there are definitely some about using their name. I don't think you should have a problem with what you are doing.
I know you can't have Amazon in your domain name or in a post title but I don't remember the other specifications.
It was ranked higher years ago after I published it but it went down over time. It is almost impossible to know why an old post suddenly rises up due to the hundreds of factors Google uses to rank. Also a post rank is related to the relative ranking of all the other similar posts out there. So my post's rank is affected by many others on different websites. Maybe a competing website shut down or got penalized by Google. Or maybe traffic to my other posts helped drag this one up too. There is no way to know. These things happen all the time, this is just one example that I am illustrating.

It is always a good idea to go back and update old posts. I did some of that but should do more. Maybe it would have risen to the top a year ago if I had done more updates!!
