More Problems. I Guess I Will Have More Website Topics
I got some extremely discourageing news last week. I have early signs of cataracts in one eye. I knew somethiig wasn't right as my vision got more and more blurry. I was pretty discouraged when I heard this from the eye doctor. I can't imagine living with this for decades as he suggested until I would finally need surgery. It seems I am plagued with health problems and it will be a full time just just dealing with them. Since I already have multiple jobs this is extra difficult.
As usual I strated to research and saw there are many supplements and treatments other than the medical standby which is surgery. People say it is super common and not that big of a deal. Well, it is a big deal to me. Why have surgery if you can avoid it? There are vitamins and antioxidants like lutein and zeazanthinin which are very helpful as well as different types of drops and other supplements. Many, many people have reversed their cataracts with these and even more use them for dogs with great results. I don't know if they are used for other pets but if they work on dogs they probably work on others too.
Even the American Optametric Association admits these supplements like Lutein and Zeazanthanin help as well as Vitamin E, C, zinc and others. They even say nutrient deficiency of zinc can cause cataracts! So, before anyone attacks me here about advocating alternative treatments I just want to make that clear. I am not being paranoid, this has happened.
I have many conditions caused by nutrient deficiency so this could be yet another. I live in Alaska. I hardly see the sun all winter. I work an office job so I am never outside during the middle of the day all week either. I dont' think sun damage is the cause in my case.I was out a lot in the sun when I was a kid but I have not worked outside or played outside all summer since I was in my early 20's. My Dad had cataracts as well and family history also increases your risk.
I could be so utterly depressed about this. Who has arthritis and bursitis, cataracts etc. etc. etc. while still in their 30's? I have not been able to even wear socks for 6 months due to foot problems where I get too much blood flow and my feet are very heat sensitive. It makes me fear for my job, scared we won't be able to travel like we want to (I can't be anywhere warm now) and just knowing I will continue to have health problems all my life. It costs money, it takes inordinate amounts of time. It is stressful. I can't do so many normal things for my age. Between economic difficulties and health issues, life seems life one big struggle.
I realize I can turn this into yet another challenge though. I will find a solution. I will cure myself. I will prove modern Western Medicine wrong yet again. I will not accept that surgery is my only option. I will keep finding solutions.
This will be yet another topic I can write about on my health website. Maybe I can find something that works well and share that information with the world. I hope I can not only help myself but many others plagued by this disability. Hey maybe it will be something that can be used for people and pets and then I can write about it on both my websites. It seems trite compared with such a scary problem at my age, but hey, attitude is important so if it keeps me going then it works.
So that is the plan. I have already ordered several things to try. They cannot be used at the same time however so I have a plan already laid out.

Hi reading your plan related to supplements already my advise is take a good look at your daily nutrition. Many health problems are food related. I have articles related to high blood pressure, Diabetes 2 and Cholesterol for example that all can be reversed by changing your nutrition I don't say this related to your eye problem, but that you mention that you have more health-related problems.
So as a metabolic health coach as my profession I would advice take a good look at what you are eating.

Yes, I understand. I likely have genetic reasons for these deficiencies however. I grew up eating from a huge garden and having lots of Alaskan salmon...about as healthy as you can get. My family has a history of complex medical issues and auto-immune problems and these can cause malabsorption of nutrients or improper utilization of nutrients. I need to take supplements and cannot get enough from food.
I have great results with people that I advise and for myself with supplements from Unicity.
I agree with you, try out first some alternative if it works why not. Sometimes eye exercise also helps as the eyes are muscles.
My Mother has Cataract and she has done the laser on both eyes, she is happy after 50 years wearing thick glasses now she doesn't wear them anymore. That is now 3 years ago. My Mother is 79 years young.
Follow your instinct you know your body best.

Laser surgery is not an option for me since I have dry eyes anyway and it is devastating for people with dry eyes. I am glad it worked well for your Mom though!

I had cataract surgery to replace my lenses a few years ago and it was no big deal. It was a short procedure for each eye a week apart with an easy recovery and no time where there was any vision impairment as a result. Normal vision again immediately. No complications afterward. I had it done in the Philippines by a US-trained doctor. It cost $3,000.
Thanks, it is reassuring to hear people's good results. I hope I can fix it myself however. I don't want to live with blurry vision now.
Cataracts are not a big problem as I have had two done. One in 1990 and the other in 1993.
I was a lifesaver for 11 years on the Gold Coast beaches and a lifeguard when I met my wife on the beach.
We did not wear sunglasses when surfing then or on the beach. The operation is quick and over in no time. Just cannot lift anything heavy for a while.
Driving was not a problem most of the time.

Thanks Sondra. It can feel absolutely overwhelming. But hey...at least it is only in one eye! I am much more hopeful since I saw the success stories some have had with supplements and drops.
