Meet my Sweet Pea!
I told you I adopted a sweet, senior, calico girl a few months ago. Here she is! Her name is Sphynx but we call her Sweet Pea. She didn't seem to care for her name before anyway and responds to Sweet Pea.
She is 14 and no-one else wanted her due to her age. The irony is that she seems healthier than our other, younger cats. She is totally spry and the vet was impressed with her good teeth and overall health. The picture makes her look big but she is actualy a cute little 7 or 8 pounds. This feels tiny compared to our others at 14 and 16 pounds each.
She has extra toes (a polydactile or "Hemingway Cat") on all 4 feet. Two extra on each front foot and one extra on each hind foot. She is a "tortishell with white" technically but we think of her as a calico. She has white, orange and black. The vet said she was very easy going for a calico.
She is so sweet and drools on my husbad when he holds her and she is just SO happy.
I can't imagine how so many wonderful dogs and cats are abandoned and don't have good homes. She is perfect. She has no bad habits and has never done anything wrong. She minds and is friendly, happy, smart and sweet.
She is also giving me new ideas for my cat health site.
I wanted to share for everyone who wanted a picture.
Onward and Upward,
Jessica

Congratulations on your new family member. I have adopted older cats and dogs at times and they always brought me joy. My cat, whom I have had since birth (her mom was a pregnant stray) is a spry 20 year old.
Wow! That is so nice to hear your cat is spry at 20. My first cat lived to 17 since he had kidney failure. I hope my kitties now stay healthy. Finding supplements to keep them healthy (teeth etc) inspired me to start my first website here.
Thanks, it has done very well. I only review products I use or have tried myself and I only recommend those I like myself and that work for my pets. Some of the supplements are made for dogs and cats such as the one for teeth and gum health. I even have a customer with hamsters that buys one of the supplements for immunity.
Hi, J,
That is wonderful. We had a cat with five toes; only on one paw. We named him Toes, lol. Never knew he was a Hemingway, and girl did he like the water. We could not keep him away from it.
Sweet Pea is adorable, and from my home to yours...thanks for adopting her. Somehow I think she knows, lol, and most of them innately know that they have been taken in by kindness despite their age.
From my heart to yours...she drools, lol.
Becky :)
We checked with the vet and the drooling truly is just from pure happiness! It is pretty cute! It is nice to know she is so happy to be held!
She had the same family for 14 years so we didn't know if she would be too depressed here but after weeks in a cage at Petsmart she was really happy to be rescued.
She is still unhappy around two of our cats (our first boy picked on here quite a bit and we were at our wit's end trying to get him to stop. He is our big baby, so sweet, but a jerk to her).
That is getting better now. She is perfectly comfortable around our other boy however. He is the biggest at 16 pounds and he is our other long haired orange and white boy who is a Norwegian Forest Cat. I think he has always felt left out of the club since the first two are bonded and he doesn't have a dedicated snuggle buddy. He seems to hope she will be his new friend.
Thanks Becky!

She is precious, Jessica. George is a polydactyl, too.( Sounds like a dinosaur, doesn't it!) I wonder who is more fortunate...those of us who have adopted animals (and kids) or those we adopt! They give us so much love and joy.
Thanks Carol. Yes, that is true. We all benefit.
And we're glad we do!
