Keep an Eye Out For Opportunities!
I just discovered the pet insurance company I have used for years has an affiliate program! Yay! I can add a whole new dimension to my site! I can offer links to their insurance and do comparisons with other pet insurance companies. I had an offer from another insurance company to post a video on my site but I didn't pursue it since I don't generally promote anything I don't use. I am so glad I finally bothered to look it up and see if my company had an affiliate program. I am really not sure why I didn't do this earlier!
Similarly, I have had inquiries about local SEO in the past from local companies. This is something I really need to pursue as well. Basically they want to hire me as a consultant to tell them what they need to do on their website.
The moral of this story is to keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities that may be outside of your main focus! It could really pay off.

I think part of it is a matter of time. If you have been doing something for a week or a month people don't really take you seriously yet. If you have been doing something for a few years, they do.

Yes, I hope so. There is a lot of demand according to the keywords but also a lot of competition. With our great SEO training here I should be able to get some good traction on posts over time however.
Great! Have fun. I had a really nice day with my sister on Thursday. We live 150 miles apart, and meet 1/2 way for lunch and some "sister time" every so often. It's great living close enough to be able to do that. When I lived in FL it was an 18 hour drive! Carol
I don't have any siblings and neither does my husband. Our parents live here but we have never had other family in Alaska. Seeing relatives means a several thousand mile trip so I understand! When I first moved here to go to college, my parents were still in Valdez 350 miles away so I felt pretty cut off from everyone. I am glad they moved up here eventually but it was another 10 years before they did.
The friends we are meeting are my husband's little "sister" and her husband. They are very close family friends. They really want us to stay in touch so we are seeing them every month or so and it is so nice! They have the most adorable baby girl and we are her aunt and uncle.
