It Finally Happened!
It took a few days longer than I wanted but I finally got another sale which has pushed me over my previous record for Amazon commissions in a calender month. I also have over $50 in Amazon sales commissions for the first time in a month. It is only the middle of April so I am really happy about that!
I am guessing my sales and traffic dropped off last week because of tax season. I assume many people were busy getting their taxes done by the April 15th deadline (in the U.S.) and so they were spending less time shopping online.
The next sale after the drought was a cat tree! Yay! It is not the most expensive cat tree but it's over $6 in commissions so I am thrilled. I will now be at $55 once it ships. Technically I am getting the cart before the horse since you don't get paid until something ships. I have to say I have only had 1 item returned this year and 102 out of 107 items shipped.
So far this month I have had 25 items ordered. That is a great return considering I will have made an average of over $2 per sale so far! That is high for my Amazon products which are not very expensive. Since I am in the "Home and Pet" category I get 8% commission on those products. Other items may only get a 3 or 4% commission. If someone orders items from those categories I get the lower commission. Due to my niche I generally get a lot of pet sales even if they are not always items I review. Lucky for me the Home items are in the 8% bracket as well. This is something worth considering when you pick a niche and decide which affiliate programs to use. For my second niche site I would be in the 4% niche so I need to find some other affiliate programs with higher commissions.
Onward and Upward,
