I Miss My Friends Here At WA

I have not been around here much lately. I have only posted a few times in the last few months when I had something interesting to share. After almost 2 years as an Ambassador I fell out of the ranks.

I knew I would be busy this fall and I have been. I don't want to share endless posts of how busy I am at my job, with our rentals etc. so I have been off the radar here.

I miss my WA friends though! I have met some wonderful people here and truly miss hearing from them.

There are some here at WA who feel only business should be the topic of our posts. However, I know that many of us feel hearing about our friend's lives helps us to be supportive and encouraging. Having a cheering section helps us all keep pushing forward and making progress in our business.

There are also those who take an all or nothing approach to this business. They feel any mention of our personal difficulties, responsibilities or time constraints is just an excuse and we should only focus on moving forward. Honestly, this has kept me from posting quite a bit this year. I would like to disagree actually.

The beauty of WA and what we learn here is that it can be applied by anyone who can read and write and has an internet connection. Whether we are young or old, rich or poor or middle of the road, healthy or struggling, we can all learn a valuable skill here and start a business. The gung-ho give it 110% attitude that requires stopping at nothing to become a full time, successful blogger is great for some but that is not realistic for all of us. Some of us are happy to keep moving forward slowly but surely while we have a life offline as well. Some of us are lucky enough to have very good jobs that we don't want to give up just yet or serious health problems that mean we have to focus on pesky little issues like health insurance.

In my case I have both the great job and the need for health insurance. Some of us already have side businesses as well. For us, websites are the way we envision gaining independence in the future but we have to work our regular job, run our side business and work on our websites all at the same time. Necessarily, our progress will take more time than those who can dedicate all their working hours online.

This division of our time does not mean we are 'making excuses', it means we are working even harder than you can imagine to juggle three jobs at once all while dealing with other responsibilities. I am very proud of the fact I am managing to do all three of my jobs at once!

I have some very good news as well!

My husband has a new job! After years of trying to find something better, he has. He has been very busy and is off to a great start. This is a huge relief. He has the potential to be moving up to a higher position in several fields as well. There is a lot going on for both of us.

I will be very busy for several more months since this is the start of the ice road season on the North Slope in Alaska and all the oil companies need water from me. I adjudicate water use by oil and gas companies for the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources. I was in a conference all day with British Petroleum, ConocoPhillips and all the other operators and government agencies yesterday.

The rentals are keeping us busy as well with a variety of vacancies we have filled and need to fill and more remodeling, plumbing etc.

I hope you are all doing well! I enjoy seeing your posts and hearing how you are doing.

Oh, and I have been working on my third website for WA promotion...so three jobs, one of which is three websites!

Onward and Upward!

Jessica

So I am not the only crazy one around here hustling many different things through the year! :) Winter is the busy part of my year when I marry an ice rink, can not leave the job, if the machine dies, so does the ice. But I do get time to journal more, have a nice clean room to come back to every day. When I do live sound, sleeping and eating can become very challenging, so I am rethinking that part of my activities this upcoming year.

And then I have my program here that falls behind. Time to get back over here and lay down some new foundation work.

Awesome to see ya, Now we know the real star on Ice Truckers, :)

Signing off from the middle of a small skyscraper in downtown San Francisco.

Cali

Hi Cali,

No, you are not the only one. It is nice to talk to others here who understand! I hope you find time to keep yourself healthy.

Thanks.

I love all your posts!

Thank you so much!

Congratulations and hi, Jessica. We missed you too

Thank you Rochelle!

Good Afternoon Jessica,

Nice to see you again and hear the latest. I am happy it is all positive news, especially that your husband now finally has found a job with a future.
All the best with your 3 websites. I do not think I want a 3e one as social media is also time demanding. I feel I am fully booked at the moment.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

It was quite amazing Taetske. My husband Aaron interviewed for this job right around the time he got a call from the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. His former professor is the head of an office of 40 or 50 people there and he told Aaron he really wanted him to come work there and thought he had the perfect experience for the job. He said none of the others had the real life experience that Aaron had and they could use that.

Aaron felt bad moving forward with the new job here if he might have to leave soon after starting. He was honest and told them about the job in D.C. They still wanted him. He was offered the job and took it.

On the first day of the new job he was told the head manager of the unit he is at was resigning. His supervisor asked him if he wanted to apply! He does not qualify so that didn't happen but it was nice that they were so encouraging. Now a few days ago he learned that his supervisor is resigning as well! They hope that he will apply for her job. So, in only a few months he has got a new job, is in the running for the D.C. job and may apply for the supervisor's job as well!

After 5 long years he is finally getting the recognition he deserves and things are finally looking up.

His professor has to step aside and will not be part of the hiring process to avoid any preferential treatment but Aaron has still had his application accepted and learned that he meets the qualifications so we are waiting to hear if he gets an interview. It is very nerve wracking though. Washington D.C. is so far away. It is the same distance from Alaska to D.C. as it is from D.C. to England! It is a daunting concept since I would have to stay here and we would live apart for awhile. I am hoping he gets the supervisor's job here so he will feel happy staying here instead!

Thanks,
Jessica

Good Morning Jessica,

It sounds all very good and exciting but I understand the huge distance would be an obstacle.
It reminds me of my parents. When they married after the war they emigrated to Australia. In the 4 years they lived there they changed homes 16 times. There was a period when my Father was working in the Snowy Mountains Project while my Mother was living 1000 miles away and me being a little baby. They did not see each other for more than 6 months.
Probably things will sort themselves out just fine, keep a positive mindset. Look at the world, so many unsettling situations. To have a good and stable job is very important.

Wow, that would be hard with a little baby. I wonder how my co-worker manages so well. She is a single Mom with a 6 year old and she is almost 50. She adopted her niece when she was a baby so no Dad to help.

I am sure out situation will work out. I am just thrilled that Aaron has these great options now.

All the best to you!

Thank you!

I missed reading your posts, Jessica. Glad you shared this.

Thank you Glen!

Love and miss you too, Jessica. Lovely post. I appreciate your realistic approach. Congrats to your hubby on his new job and Congrats to you on your 3rd website!!! Woohoo! I've also been off the radar for a while and meaning to post something. I'll do it today.

Thanks Lauren. I have seen you on Facebook. It looks like you are doing well!

Thanks so much, Jessica. All going great my side, was busy with a 30-Day Challenge last month. It was pretty manic. Lots of training to get through as well as the posting schedule. Finding my feet again in my usual routine this month.

Oh Jessica, what a true pleasure it is to read about your life.

A job is security a job is income & WA weather full time, part time, or side hustle is simply “a bridge to normal living”
Sometimes real day to day life gets in the way, and sometimes our most hard fought plans and designs are altered by the universe.
What makes us, as individuals, unique is simply how we deal with life and adversity, hearing a success story on WA is not about applauding only the monetary progress, but cheering from the sidelines of those members who are struggling with life or with work.
I make no judgement on the importance of one over another, what is worth applauding is the fact you are here and communicating your life.

Do not listen to the small percentage of people who say this community is just about business. We are real life people and need support and a cheerleader now and again. I am no different, nor it would seem do the majority of members.

Well done good to read your post. No I mean REALLY GOOD to read your post.

🎺🥁❤️

Thank you Cordelia! That is very nice of you to offer such nice encouragement. I really appreciate that. I agree!

Wow Jessica and I thought my offline life was busy....goodness me girl you've a lot to be proud of and whether you feel you can share it here or not does not take away from the fact that you've got successes in your life!

Delighted to read your post and get glimpse into your world. You've got this and more! Congrats to your husband too ;) Jules

Thank you very much Jules! That is kind of you and I appreciate it! I feel like a tightrope walker lately. My husband was looking for a better job with less stress, decent appreciation and better pay for years (he coordinated prisoner transport for the State Troopers previously and was expected to be on-call 7 days a week and 24 hours a day but not paid for it). Anyway, when it rains it pours. He was in the process of applying and interviewing for the new job when he was contacted by his old professor who now works in Washington D.C. about a federal job there. It is a huge honor to be personally requested for a job at the Department of Justice! He told the new job about this possibility but they still wanted him.

So now he has the new job, is still in the running for the D.C. job and his supervisor and the head boss at the new job both resigned and they want him to apply! So crazy that all of this is happening at the same time. He has only been at the new job for 2 weeks! You just never know what is around the next corner!

There is certainly a lot of juggling going on, especially for your husband, perhaps the long wait for the right job was meant to be...he should follow his gut instinct as that will guide him to make the right decision for him. Either way what a rather wonderful headache to have...

The law of attraction works in mysteries ways...but embrace all the universe is looking to give you and be grateful for the opportunities. Wishing you all the best on your journey to success. Jules ;-)

I am so happy. I told him for years that it would work out and it finally did!! Thanks.

Really enjoyed reading about your journey Jessica. You are doing some amazing juggling there, so well done.
Success is success, even if it takes a little longer than you would like.

Wishing you great success
Lily 🌞

Thank you Lily! I appreciate that. I see you have a new post up too. I will read it.
