Crazy run of bad luck!

We are busy with packing and trying to buy the 4-plex. We ordered the inspection this week. It was expensive since it is a multi unit property. We expected good news since it is in great shape and everyone (even the inspectors) say it is the best 4-plex on the market here. The inspectors even said it was the best one they have looked at this year! Well, that is all great except for the fact it has two broken trusses in the roof! This will have to be repaired by the seller for us to move forward. There are also some more common, little issues as well requiring an electrician and plumber to fix. So we don't know if the seller will fix them and how long it will take. This could derail our whole timeline as they might need to take off the gable ends to get into the roof (3 stories up) to fix it.

I am also still sick. Two weeks of antibiotics and no better. I went back to the doctor yesterday and they suspect it was viral all along but didn't do any tests. To top it all off our heat went out last night! It was below zero outside! It is still not back on, but luckily it is sunny and the sun has some heat in it now that it is spring. In the middle of winter it is so low to the horizon, you get light but no heat. The cold is not helping my sinuses and cough!

My husband is also sick. He still had the cough and then got a respiratory flu on top of it so he had a fever and the muscle aches. I feel like I got a cold on top of my cough since my nose started running like crazy and my ears are plugged up.

I have to laugh at how badly things seem to be going. It just doesn't seem real. We had to go to apply for our loan at the mortgage office last night. It was all I could do to make it through that with medicine and cough drops. We found out we may not be able to use our retirement accounts for the 6 month reserves after all! We may be able to qualify without the 6 month reserves though. We shall see.

We also found out our landlord's son has lymphoma. The landlords were going to stay with their son for a few weeks if we needed extra time to get moved. Now they can't do that. They may be able to make other arrangements but it makes us feel like we need to hurry up and get out. My husband's vehicle needs to go to the shop too! Can you believe it?

Have you thought about moving to New Zealand?

We would love to!!

Much better for your health...for all of you!

The sunshine waiting for you after heavy rainy day.

Thank you! Yes, I hope so!

Thank you for your update. And overall Jessica all is going well .. in the bigger picture you have a great investment and a great loan arrangement. There are just the "challenges of life" and processes to work through. You are a powerful ,smart girl, just attack those challenges and processes and power on through. Cheers, William.

Thanks William. I hope so. We just keep taking it one step at a time. We signed the repair request today and once that is settled the appraisal will be ordered.

For now the heat is back on.

Hi Jessica,
Oh my goodness!! that's terrible!! I really truly pray that everything turns out great for you. You've been through so much, your blessing is going to be HUGE!!! Keep your head up, and push forward. Nothing can stop you!! Have a great weekend, take care my friend.
Mary

Thank you Mary! At least the heat is back on now. I just wish my ear would get unplugged. It has been plugged up for two days now! I don't recall ever having this before. It doesn't hurt like an ear infection, just clogged up so I can't hear much out of it. As long as I don't end up with a sinus infection or ear infection I will be ok.

Wow, it sounds like quite a tough time! It's weird how things sometimes all go wrong at once...sorry to hear that you're going through all this!

Hope your heat is back on again...ours was out a few days ago since the wind knocked trees down in many places here in Michigan. And, it was so strong it blew one of our trash cans up in the tree for awhile, lol. Then, it must have blown away somewhere, it's nowhere to be found now.

Anyways, it was getting pretty cold in here by the time they got our power back on the next day...so, I definitely understand what you mean there! It sure doesn't help when you're feeling sick either...hopefully you and hubby get well soon!

You're right that sometimes all we can do is laugh when things get so crazy like this...better to laugh than cry I'd have to say. Hopefully, things will get sorted out for the better soon!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Thanks Sherry. The heat is back on. I am still sick but looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning! Yay! Maybe I will feel better after a long sleep!

We get big wind storms here sometimes with hurricane force winds at the tail end of Pacific typhoons. I am glad it wasn't windy this time, it would have been much colder.

I'm so sorry Jessica. When it rains it pours. Feel better and i hope everything gets sorted out.
Erica

Thanks Erica!

I can totally sympathize with you! We went through very similar circumstances as I told you earlier. When it was happening to us, it did seem like the worst thing that could happen. The timing was horrible, I was sick, it was pouring rain, couldn't find a place to live, on and on. However, we made it through to the other side. You will survive this! I know it seems like you won't, be we all get through the tough times. They do give us new direction and make us stronger! So hang in there. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! My niece and her family, who live in Michigan, are going through the same sickness you have. They have had it for almost 2 months now. All 4 of them have been sick. The kids have been out of school more than in.

Try to stay hydrated and get as much rest as you can. Those are the only things that will help if it is viral. I will be thinking about you! Hopefully, things will improve shortly for you and your husband.

Thanks Connie, the heat is back on. Yep, it's tough but oh well.

Just as the sun will come up over Alaska as summer moves in. the situation will change for the better!

Thanks Mike.

Sorry things seem UNseemly...but they're just little tests that will make you stronger...you WILL get through it all and know more, see more, and have a new wisdom about you...you'll see...now Press On!

Yes, I know. I am not too worried. I know these are just bumps in the road!

Thanks.

when it rains it pours--what's the saying whatever can go wrong will go wrong

Yes, we were worried that it seemed too good to be true! Sure enough.
