Back At It!

Last Update: October 17, 2020

I am happy to say I finally wrote a new post on one of my sites! After months and months away I am back! When my businesses were taken down by the search engines, Amazon and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission as well as my State's Attorney General's Office, I was very discouraged. I was shocked and saddened that my own government was threatening me for doing nothing wrong. It is a long story but you can check out my earlier posts if you are curious. The state Attorney General has since resigned in disgrace for a different reason.

Anyway, though one of my websites is shut down and my pet site is not making any money now, I am not giving up. I am picking up the pieces and moving forward.

I will not give up.

On other fronts, our rentals are finally all filled! It took a long time but it finally happened. We got the worst units all remodeled and they are gorgeous now. The other units are at least clean and habitable and partially remodeled.

We still have a lot of work to do. In the last month we had to change the door lock (people were trying to break in) change the door hinges (tenants were still leaving it unlocked), put a lock on the dumpster (other people kept dumping furniture in and around it and picking through it leaving trash all over) deal with more water leaks, call the cops on drug deals going on every night and help tenants find rent assistance who can't afford rent due to Covid. We also had to arrange for a new boiler to be installed. That was all in the building we manage. Now we need to install a new boiler in our own building. That is a huge blow and obviously not cheap.

In our regular jobs we are both busy as well. Covid makes everything difficult and every week we know someone getting tested.

My husband is finally recovering from his complications to Covid this spring but will be stuck with some lifelong issues.

We won't stop though. We have to keep moving forward.

I am SO happy to be back. I wrote a post and am requesting comments here at WA. I am posting it on Twitter, tracking it's ranking and looking forward to writing more.

I hope you are all doing well wherever you are.

Let me know how its going for you!

Jessica

Glad you are back, Jessica. You do have the true Alaskan spirit, girl! Don't let anything stop you; find a way around the problem; keep going forward. My own forward movement was sidetracked for a while by an issue that I've now put behind me. It changed some things, but still going strong. You have had a much better set of hurdles to overcome, and I'm so glad you have been able to do so.

Hope to see you here regularly.

I' glad that you got your foot back in the water, Jessica! I'm also glad you have full tenancy, but gosh the way people who rent treat things is abhorrent! I was a landlord back in the 1990s, and while I survived similar situations and achieved a life long goal early, I will NEVER do it again! Kudos to you and your husband! Enjoy your weekend!

Thank you Jeff. It is crazy. It feels like we are adult baby sitters! We are lucky that our tenants in our own building here are great. The newest is a medic in the Navy. She just transferred here from Spain. She hopes to stay here for 3 years.
