Anyone else have crash in Amazon sales?

I am very excited about my last website post going straight to #1 on Google, Yahoo and Bing, and it being the featured snippet on Google. Things seem to be going well! But, my sales on Amazon that have been so good this summer have absolutly crashed. I am getting no sales. This has been going on for several weeks now. I am trying to be patient and wait out the supposed summer slump but this is getting worrisome.

I am curoius is anyone else here was getting Amazon sales and then they stopped a few weeks ago?

I have seen people complaining of this on Amazon forums but have not seen anyone here on WA talking about a decline in Amazon sales in particular. I would love to know if it is indeed a seasonal downturn or if I am doing something wrong!

I am still getting clicks to Amazon from my site and I checked the links. That is not the problem.

Please let me know!

Thanks!

Jessica

People are distracted, getting their kids ready for back to school? Maybe that's why they call it the Dog Days of summer :)

Yes, I really hope that is all it is! Thanks.

Hi Jessica,

Sometimes a featured snippet can cause this as they end up having the 'answer' to their search query within the snippet.

For everyone reading, see attached as to what a featured snippet is.

Thanks Jay. I only have 2 featured snippets however and one of them is on a brand new post so this doesn't explain why I am not getting sales from my other posts for weeks now. I just wish I knew if it was something on Amazon's end or simply people not buying.

I just called Amazon Associates support and they claim there is nothing going on with reporting or malfunctions lately.

Yep, I've had a slow month as well compared to the last few. I'm hoping it's just a summer slump, but I'm not sure how to tell.

Thank you! It is nice to see someone else who understands what I am talking about! I hope it picks up for us!

Me too. My other affiliates are slumping a little too so maybe people are just busy with vacations.

I hope that is all it is! That way I can just keep doing what I am doing and it will pick up again.

Thanks for sharing, Jessica.

Thanks.

You're welcome.

Retail or affiliate, can be a bumpy ride. Hard to predict...I am sure you will be fine.

I think it's pretty outstanding your doing so well to begin with.

Thank you!

This seems fairly urgent and worthy of a WA employee to look at. I have asked for help a few times didn't get response. I would make an effort to contact someone at WA.

Thank you but this has nothing to do with WA. I am getting traffic to my sites and even getting traffic to Amazon. Either people just aren't buying anything or the problem is with Amazon.

FOR SOME REASON SUMMER TIME DOES AFFECT OUR SALES... THE FACT CHRISTMAS COMING SOON... WELL YOU HAVE GOTTEN VERY FAR THAN ME...

Yes, thank you. I hope you do well.

I have not made a sale yet with Amazon so I can't say that I was in a slump with them. I am sorry but I can't help you with this. Maybe next time around.

Marmar

Thank you.

You are so very welcome always here for you my friend

Many search results that were occupied by relevant keyword based web sites are now dominated by Amazon, Walgreens and Walmart. Not all niches but those in medical, health, diet, nutrition, etc. Google feels those new results are more relevant . I myself disagree and hope Google tweaks the update in the future as it hurts little sites with great content .

I certainly hope Google changes this also.

You might have lost rankings depending on your niche due to the last Google Update. And, that in turn has lowered your clicks and even more so your conversions. The Google update is being nick-named the Medic Update by the way.

I lost over 50 % of my daily Amazon purchases because I lost key rankings for best honey, where to buyt ceylon cinnamon, etc. It really is frustrating !

I am sorry to hear that happened to you. I am confused though. I am getting featured snippets on Google and Bing and my last post went straight to #1 on Google, Yahoo and Bing. It seems I am still getting enough traffic that I should be getting some sales but I am not.

I guess there isn't much I can do except to keep adding content etc.

Whats your site about and what are the products you are selling ?
I mean if you can say it would be helpful. Not all sites are effected.
But, some are.

SO HOW ARE WE GO MAKE MONEY NOW WHILE THIS IS HAPPENING.... FOR SOME ONE LIKE ME I HAVEN'T GOT THAT FAR...

Hello Latonya. You can apply for other affiliate programs. I have heard that sales are at an all time low for Amazon specifically, but not for ALL other affiliate programs.

Additionally, amazon does not give you too high of a commission (don't quote me on this, but i think the maximum is around 8 - 10%), while you could be getting upto 50% commissions from other affiliate programs.

So I would suggest that while promoting Amazon stuff, to also promote products from other companies.. :)

Hope this helps..

This particular site I am talking about is cat health and behavior products. So it includes everything from high quality food to supplements for gum and tooth health, immunity etc. as well as anti-anxiety products for behavior problems. I also have home remedies for cats.

I have a health site (and I understand the Google updates could affect that) but it is still very small so I have not seen any change in it.
