Alaska is Gateway for Coronavirus Evacuees, My Post Straight to Google position 1
I have been thinking about caronavirus since the flight from Wuhan China to evacuate American citizens came through our airport in Anchorage Alaska yesterday. Everyone was screened here and if they showed any signs of illness they would be held at our hospitals and not allowed to continue on. We are the gateway aperently. I don't know if there will be more such flights since some people in Wuhan were not allowed on that fligth and told there was not enough room.
I started researching coronavirus and was exited to see my new post went straight to position 1 on Google. I learned a lot in the process so it certainly was not wasted time. I learned there are many ways to protect ourselves.
What we learn here is so powerful. Any information I want I can get to the first page of Google.
Update: 1/30 I have lost the number one spot on Google. The post is now at #3 which is still good. I see I rose up to #1 on Bing and Yahoo though! Yay!

Congrats! I've done a bit of reading about that lately as well cuz my daughter was flying across the country.
It's hard to tell if this virus could turn into something serious or if it's just another case of the media blowing something out of proportion. Time will tell.
As I understand it, the flu is a far more serious threat but I'm all for taking precautions to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

Thanks KC! I am pretty surprised actually that so many people here think it is just a scam to scare us or being blown out of proportion. I feel the opposite. It is being downplayed by the government and it is actually more dangerous than they are admitting.
At this point the chance of any of us getting it is remote but that is changing and it will just be a matter of time before it is even more widespread. The symptoms are listed as fever and cough...that is not true. I read an interview with one of the survivors in China. Try organ failure...barely able to be kept alive in the hospital...this was a previously healthy 23 year old male. He survived but is still very weak and will be on drugs for 6 months.
So far it is spreading faster than SARS did. It is not as deadly as some things but that makes it more dangerous because it won't burn itself out so fast by simply killing everyone it comes in contact with. Unlike some of the other scary viruses it has a very long incubation period. So, taking the temperature of travelers at airports does hardly any good. You could have it and pass it on before you have any symptoms.
I was relieved to learn some supplements are very effective natural anti-virals however and I already take some of them!
The flu is more of a threat today but not if this continues to spread across the world.

Good points all, especially the one about the governments misrepresenting or downplaying it. I'm convinced they all would rather climb a tree to tell a lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth. lol It certainly could be as you suggest.

I read in the NYT that Alaska was the entry point for evacuees. I guess it makes more sense than evacuating to a really busy place like NYC, LA or Dallas.
Still, not much fun for the people living in Alaska.
From what I've been reading and researching on coronavirus it appears to spread much like the cold and flu - through the air (sneezing and coughing) and surfaces that are touched. So wearing surgical masks makes a lot of sense and they are already doing that in Chinatown here in NYC.
I hope you and all Alaskans stay safe until this mystery illness is completely contained.
It is just that we are closer so we are the logical refueling stop. I am just concerned because taking people's temperatures does hardly any good. The incubation period is very long for this virus and you can have it for days before you have a temperature or any other symptom.

And I also heard about 30 minutes ago on the radio Arkansas has it's first confirmed case.
But knowing myself how the Media uses Fear Tactics to incite the masses, are there lessons to be learned from this?

I read an article the other day on fake news of all types on the Coronavirus. Search engines and social media platforms are gearing up to squelch the fake news reports.

Well, the fake news has not been able to get the Ebola virus Fear going so they will try something else.

Thank you. The media does that but in this case the seriousness is being downplayed by the government so we need someone to raise awareness of what is really going on.

That's great, Jess. Scary that the apparent gateway is so close to home for you. Gotta read your posts about it. Really behind at keeping up with anything except doc appts. for my guy. Saw endocrinologist today. Had to have another blood test and will be schedued for a nuclear thyroid test. Wonder if he'll glow in the dark??!
