Absolutely Crazy Busy with Life
I have been busy as a bee. We have someone lined up to take our unit April 1st which is a huge relief. We are trying to find a tenant for one of the units in the 6-plex by the 1st as well. There is still work being done in the unit so it is challenging. I have to go vacuum and clean up the mess again before each showing. The sheet rock over the entire tub/shower is gone now as well since access was needed through the ceiling there to replace the tub in the unit upstairs. It feels like we are going backwards!
It is certainly harder to show a unit for rent when there are holes in the ceiling and I have to explain that the windows will be replaced this week as well. I just want it fixed! That has been a real struggle as the parade of plumbers and contractors grows.
In other news we had the municipality building inspector come to inspect the earthquake damage to our building and he confirmed there is structural damage. That will make it easier to appeal the FEMA decision since the FEMA inspector could not look at the whole building (neither did the state inspector!). They would only consider our unit.
So, progress should be made finally.
I am also busy at work so I have not been making much progress (well any progress) on my sites. I am showing the apartment to two prospective tenants tonight after work and at least one tomorrow after work.
It is nice that my sites keep running on auto-pilot as always. I have had a fair number of Amazon sales this month despite my absence.
That is one of the best advantages of what we learn here at WA. We are given the keys to a residual income that can keep on working even when we don't.
Onwards and upwards,
Jessica

Keeping busy is what keep you being like a teenager.
Frustrating dealing with the government malarkey isn’t it. Would be nice if government workers would just do their job. No all are that way but you’d think approving something like earthquake damage would be through. The money is not coming out of the inspectors billfold.

It is ridiculous. We bought the building with a VA loan so it cannot be commercial, only residential. Yet, FEMA says it is commercial and that we have to apply for a business loan from the Small Business Administration to fix it.
The FEMA inspector is only allowed to take 5 pictures too!
You’ve sure got a lot on Jessica. I feel the same right now.
I’m hoping after this weekend it settles a little. I have a vacant property too right now and it’s just been repainted but there’s still jobs to do and I have to go clean it all today ready for a photographer to come in tomorrow. I’ll be happy when the weekend comes!
I hope all your property issues resolve soon. I know they were huge you after the earthquake and I can only imagine the enormity of what you’ve had to do,
Hopefully you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And it’s awesome that your websites are working for you on autopilot while life happens!
All the best Jessica 😊
Thanks Melissa. It is crazy. We can't fix any of the damage until the inspectors see it all, and now we need an engineer to come assess it, then contractor bids.
Thanks Fran. No rest anytime soon. Two units to fill now, a rogue plumber who keeps breaking things, a contractor who won't call back, our God daughter's 2nd birthday this weekend as well! We babysat her on Sat. It is fun but the bathroom trips every single hour seem to take up most of the time. She is just potty trained now which is not bad for not even 2!
I also wanted to get the old vehicle (the one that broke down and was in the shop for ages) sold before our insurance starts another 6 months! Also by April 1st!!!
That’s awesome!! I love hearing about other beekeepers! In Alaska? That’s so cool! I’m curious how or what it was like up north keeping bees
They also made syrup from the sap of the birch trees. We smoked salmon and had huge gardens and greenhouses as well. It was a great life! There are some great local businesses here that produce all sorts of products from honey and wax. Fireweed honey and other wildflower types...very nice!!
