I am so frustrated with this I'm ready to give up. And I've read so much conflicting information on this problem, and none of it has helped.

One of my websites (trackmywe

Update: Site Support fixed the problem in like three minutes after I submitted the support ticket. Yay! Now I have a nice sitemap for all my websites. :^)

I just saw your posting. I would of recommend contacting siteSupport. I had problem with it on one of my websites. They fixed it within minutes.

I am glad you have it resolved. YAY!!!

Do you mean you just activate and deactivate the SEO plugin in the dashboard? If this the case, then you did not activate your sitemap. You just activate the plugin. This is why you don’t have a sitemap. To activate sitemap in All in One SEO, go back into the dashboard and activate the SEO plugin. Then click on the SEO setting, you will see the Feature Manager click on this. In the feature manager, you will find your sitemap, where you have to activate the sitemap. This will turn on the sitemap for you so you can go in an configuring the sitemap for your site.

I include some pictures. Hope this help.

I did add the XML sitemap and activate it. I didn't just add All-in-One SEO. It simply is not working.

OK, did you go into the sitemap setup and configure to dynamically Generate Sitemap and submit it to google?

I went back and double checked, and yes, it is configured to dynamically generate sitemap.

I understand that this is a fairly common problem, but no one seems to agree on how to remedy it. I've asked Site Support for help now. If they can't help me I guess I just have to live without a sitemap for this one website.

It's odd because my other sites have beautiful sitemaps, LOL.

Don't quit!! Just keep plugging along with the help of others.

Tried and True

Elaine

No quitting in this group! I have had issues with sitemap myself a couple of times and was nothing I did. Contact Site support and they will fix it up for you real quick!

Always reach out before you get to the point of frustration. There are always answers here for you!

Christine

Hi Christine, I did put this question out on WA a few days ago. That was when someone suggested I get rid of All-in-One and go with Yoast and deactivate other plug-ins in case they were interfering in some way, but it didn't fix the problem.

It's just interesting to me how there can be no consensus on how to remedy what seems to be a fairly common problem. I've read so many different solutions, but none of them have worked for me.

I also read that you don't need a sitemap unless you have several hundred posts/pages on your website. Could this be true?

I'll watch the video that Mike put up, and if that doesn't work I'll contact Site Support.

All you should have to do is go to as I and click on sitemap. Save yourself some time and contact support. Mine was fine and all of a sudden it wasn't. They will fix it.

Don't quit. That means that fear has won.
Jerry

Thanks, Mike. I will watch this later this afternoon.

Welp, I looked at the info in the link, Mike. I'm not sure this is the type of sitemap that I can submit to Google to enable more efficient crawling though.

When I go to Google console (or analytics, whatever it is) I'm unable to submit the sitemap URL because there's nothing there.

That's what I'm trying to accomplish with the sitemap.

I've searched all over trying to find an answer for this one, but turned up nothing helpful. Mostly I found info on how to use the All-in-One SEO XML Sitemap feature.

I'v

Well, this took a little tracking down, Susan. You've got 3 websites listed on your profile page and 2 of them don't have a problem with the sitemaps.
https://yourwordsintomoney.com/sitemap.xml
https://tokinggranny.com/sitemap.xml
Now what did you do that's different with
https://trackmyweightloss.com/sitemap.xml ?

Did you activate the Sitemap section of All In One SEO? Deactivate and delete all plugins that have the potential to create a sitemap. Then Install Yoast SEO plugin and see if that one works. You may have to clear the cache. If you don't know how to do that then ask Site Support.

Thanks, Marion.

Yes, it's just the TrackMyWeightLoss that I'm having an issue with. I had noticed that the XML Sitemap through All-in-One SEO hadn't been activated, so I added it and that's when I discovered the empty sitemap.

So, after researching the problem I deactivated the All-in-One and added the Google XML Sitemap instead but got the same results.

The plug-ins I have are All-in-One SEO (with XML Sitemaps deactivated), EWWW Image Optimizer, Kirki Toolkit, Metabox, Tablepress, WP GDPR Compliance, and the Google XML Sitemaps.

Do you know which ones of those plug-ins have the potential to create a sitemap? I don't. Do I really have to deactivate all of those?

Well, I'll get rid of All-in-one and try the Yoast SEO plug in.

How much content do you have? If all you have are noindex pages, you'll have a blank sitemap except for the main page.

I have quite a bit of content on this particular site, so that's not an issue.

I just wrote a post and published it on my site, and it shows May 1st as the post date. Anyone have any idea why it would do this?

You should check the location timezone on your computer.

If it's not that - check where is your IP located.
for example, I live in Western Australia but my IP is in Melbourne Victoria (which is 3 hours difference to me) so this is what shows on my posts.

The time zone is correct and the IP location is within 60 miles of where I live (same time zone).

When I get time later today I'm going to ask support why it did this.

The setting hasn't changed. It is set for my time zone. So, something else is going on.

Timezone sounds like the correct answer. I didn't realize there is a timezone in Wordpress... Thank you for asking the question and finding the answer.

Timezones.

Tried and True

Elaine

Yes as OnlineBzDog says you can change the time zone in WordPress.

~Mark :)

This is because the time setting in your WordPress is incorrect. You can set this by logging into your WordPress website dashboard, click on the setting tab, click on general setting, in here you will see time setting. You should set the time to your time zone and then click update to save the setting.

This should fix the problem.

It was set correctly before. I mean, it always had the correct date when I would do a blog post. Wonder why it changed itself.

No, I have no idea because normally when you post it is usually the same date as the day that you publish it on. I am sorry that I can't help you out but I really don't know why that would happen like that.

Has anyone else received a comment like this (below) ? I'm thinking it's spam for sure, and there's no way I'm clicking on the link. I was just curious if anyone else has gotte

Yes, I got the same comment yesterday, but not from "Numerous data".

The commenter also wrote, "You actually suggested this superbly."

Definitely a link to reject as spam.

I tested the link and it went to a dead site, "This site can't be reached."

Wow, you were brave to click on the link. I've gotten burned by dubious links before and ended up with viruses so I won't ever fall for it again. Are these just bots, then? Kind of odd - what's the point?

Sounds like spam.
Thanks!

Spam.

Spam definitely! And we're not talking the unhealthy food kind of spam. Lol....

Yup, it's a spam for sure.

There are many spammers online, just ignore him and delete his comment.

Good luck.

Spam for sure, Susan. Trackback simply means that they will spam you further if you reply. :-(
Hennie

Oh, I see. Good thing I didn't reply to it. Better to just delete and forget.

I have not but it does sound like spam to me also.

Spam!!!

I got an e-mail notification telling me a "new trackback on the post . . . is waiting for your approval." Not a comment, but a trackback. What does that mean?

I always thought a trackback was a notification that another site has linked to yours

You're right, hagstf. I Googled it and this is what came up: "an automatic notification sent when a link has been created to a person's blog post from an external website, allowing a reciprocal link to that website to be created."

Since it's spammy in nature I probably don't want this, correct? I just marked it as spam within my back office and didn't delete it. I'm going to see if I can go back and still delete it.

It it sounds like spam and walks like spam... lol
delete....

thanks for sharing. I have not rcvd that.

I'm trying to figure out how to put an image next to the title of the posts. I've seen some themes where there will be a large thumbnail image right next to the post title and

Do you mean the featured image? where each post is stacked up on the page and each one has an image beside it?
If this is what you are speaking of then to the right of your posting editor at the bottom you will see SET FEATURED IMAGE click that and choose your image then click set featured image and publish! The image will then show beside your post title and excerpt.

Thanks so much, Fran. That's exactly what I was looking for but I thought it would be on the left side where you can change up the appearance of your website. I didn't expect it to be at the bottom right of the post editor. Now I know, thanks to you!

You're welcome. Glad I could help!
