Do I have to do 301 redirects with my http urls after changing my site to https?
Bing Webmaster tools say I do, how do I go about this? My site is hosted at WA.

Good day to you Suzanne, to answer your question, no, you do not have to do 301 redirects because once you add the SSL certification to your website, it becomes a "new website". you must add this HTTPS website to your Google Webmasters Tools account. After a few days you will start to see activity on your new site (HTTPS) and no activity to your old site (HTTP).
Good question, I hope this helps.
Ken
Bing is similar to Google and works the same as per Google, as far as your HTTPS and HTTP are concern.
Ken
I am mistakened, I always treated it as such. This would be a question for jay. I apologize.
Ken
No ma'am you were not rude. I learned that bing doesn't treat https the same as Google. This will take some added effort on my part to find a solution. We both are on the same side... the side that is winning. Thank you for alerting me on this subject.

Hi Suzanne,
Just upload your sitemap to your https site in Bing if you have not done so already.
Other than that you don't really need to.
For redirections on my websites I use this:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/redirection/
Always make a backup though I have never experienced problems.
I did that but apparently you need to do more...I don't really want to upload any more plugins either.
I just need to know if I have to redirect all my old urls to to new.

Brilliant news regarding SSL and I have installed it.
My question is: I don not have a green lock but a yellow lock saying parts of my website are not secure such as imag
Thanks all, I now have a green lock on my homepage, just need to fix up the rest of my site.
Just as well that I was in the process of redesigning and organizing my site - SSL perfect timing :)
Happy WA member here :)
This has nothing to do with images or posts, this is something else, and Google recommends how to fix 'error' from content setting, though its not working on mine, still battling with it.

I'm in the process of re-designing my website, new homepage, play around with navigation and menus etc, all ready for a fantastic and successful 2017 :)
My questions is,
I've used a plugin called 'Post Type Switcher' after watching the 'How to convert a Page into a Post and vice versa with this Plugin' training created by kiliwia62 at WA.
Her training has a video explaining how to use the plugin.
Hi my dear friend, I know the right person who can help you. Have a look at his training and ask him your questions. The Differences Between Posts & Pages He is very helpful.
I have done this with tens of pages (and in other direction as well). No single problem ever. I used pTypeConverter plugin.
To play safe, try one and see what happens.

I'm in a position where I have £50 to spend on some kind of promotion.
I know it's not a fortune and I want to spend it wisely. The site I'll be promoting is my WA
Google has the best power of the lot. Afterward I would add in Facebook. Invest and monetize as you go
If you're doing Google Adwords, I might try to maximize my money. Often times, Google will send promotions. You spend a certain amount, and they add $100 to the pot. I seem to get one in my email box once a month. I'm not sure why though. I haven't used Google Adwords for awhile.
What I will say is that Facebook really allows you to target well. It's also more affordable than Adwords. If I wanted to spend 50 bucks, I'd go the Facebook route over Adwords.
Whichever route you go, I will say it's easy to run through PPC campaigns without getting the results you want. I've done it myself. Recently, I've revamped my strategy and asked for professional help with my marketing campaign.
In terms of promoting my website, the best results I've had is writing good content and gaining organic traffic. Then sharing that content regularly through my social media feeds. I've also worked on building up my presence on select social media channels (more people to share with).
Summing it in four pieces of advice:
1) Concentrate on creating solid content
2) Build your social media following so you have folks to share with
3) Share with your social media following
4) Get mentored by someone who's successful in running FaceBook campaigns, so your money isn't wasted from lack of knowledge
Hello Suzanne from way down there in Brighton.
I have to ask - Do you have your own Domain Name for the WA Site?
If so then I would go down the PPC road but take care because you could easily lose the lot.
My advice is to read up on PPC first so that you have a full understanding just what it is you must do to achieve success with it.
Robert
Yes it is my own domain hosted elsewhere.
I've had a little success with Bing but I am accepted on Google Adwords and may give that a shot.
Ok Suzanne if you feel comfortable with it then go for it.
Here's a link to a blog I published on this - Keyword Research Tips For Adword Campaigns It may help you a wee bit.
Enjoy your Tuesday.

No. once you added your sitemap to your https site that is enough.
