Walmart and Google continue to nip at Amazon's heels. Look out Alexa!
Walmart is going for a bigger online presence by acquiring online companies such as Jet.com and Hayneedle.com. You can get free two day shipping without having a membership. And now they are offering voice shopping with Google Assistant and Home. Delivery will be free through Google Express.
Walmart and Google are aligning together to go up against Amazon's huge smart speaker market share. According to an NPR survey, Google Home has a 16 percent share compared to Amazon's 76 percent.
It's going to be interesting and fun to see how all of this plays out. Hopefully the competition will be a big win for consumers.

There are a lot of things 'happening' just because they can!
the question, of course, is: should they and will this help, hurt or act in a neutral way for everyone using these or other services?
Competition is an absolutely wonderful thing; I hope you did not misunderstand me. The point I was trying to make, in a short hand sort of way is:
Making/creating a monopoly simply because you can must also compel you to compete on a level playing field, as far as service, price and relationship building.
THAT is true competition!
We're good Mickey. I understood your point.
Years ago the US government broke up Ma Bell because they said that it had become a huge monopoly.
Today, we have companies like Amazon and Facebook, that buy up their competition to say on top of their market. In the last 10 years, fb has purchased over 60 companies.
The more players we have competing for market share, the better it is for the consumer.
saw that on the news. very smart move on their part. In June I was talking to a potential career coaching client that was starting to train with WalMart to manage their online grocery department so this has been in the works for a while---that's what you call niche marketing because there's a lot of shut-ins who can't get to the store to do their own shopping
I'm looking forward to how the Whole Foods/Amazon deal is going to impact the market. Amazon just announce that they are going to cut the cost of staples like meat and eggs.
