How do you manage you time?

I just read a post about getting distracted and overwhelmed with building an online business. I had some of the same thoughts and feelings about managing everything that I want to accomplish.

So I'm curious to how others here the WA community manage their time. What do you do to get it all done? (that's probably a little misleading... Do we ever get it ALL done! LOL) How do you manage your time between participating in the WA community, training and building your website?

I'm dividing the time I spend on the computer into blocks. I work this into my day based on my work schedule. Currently I'm splitting my time with WA community discussions, the training, research, content writing and working on building my website.

I have 30 - 45 minutes in the morning before the start of my work day. I'll read and respond to posts… and write one if I have something to say, and I set an agenda for what training I want to do that day. I also do a quick brainstorming activity. This is how I come up with content ideas. It allows the ideas to brew in my mind for the rest of the day. On real good days, I'm constantly making quick notes throughout the day with the thoughts/ideas I had in the morning. I take 15 minutes at lunch to check out the Activity Dashboard and respond to posts. My bigger blocks of time are after the work day. I do WA training, work on writing content and build my website.

What are you doing? What's working for you?

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on this post! :)

I accepted Michael Ultimateless challenge to publish new post every week and try to do the Certification assignments every day in my spare time.

Good for you, Melani! When I set goals like you just did, I find it helpful to write it down and put it where I'll see it all the time. It's a good way for me to schedule it in my day rather than get to it when I have time.
All the best, SM

Hi Suzanne

Thank you for sharing, great post. I am not as organized as you are. I could use this post as a guide. Best wishes.

Delroy

I think you're doing all the right things with the time you have for WA. I really don't know how folks who are still working 9 to 5 do it. It takes a real commitment.

Sometimes I find myself spending too much time commenting on WA threads that catch my attention. This usually occurs when I'm struggling a bit with some aspect of developing my business. It provides a little relief from the tensions that build up.

Some folks improve their productivity by creating all kinds of time management techniques. But beware that you don't end up spending way too much time on 'Time Management' with fancy time lines and spreadsheets.

I try to KISS and acknowledge that this is not a trivial process and it's definitely not a race ... it's a marathon. Sometimes the best daily self talk is to just ... KEEP ON KEEPIN ON.

Thanks for your comments, Dennis!

I find that I do the same as you in regards to commenting on WA threads. It sometime distracts me from working on my site. It's totally self-inflicted and something I need to control better.

I work about 2 hours a day on WA. Always in the evening.

Thanks! Congrats on being in the top 100! You have obviously worked hard to get there. I see your comments all over WA. It's great to see how many people you are helping.

Thanks Suzanne. Sure it's nice to be among the top 100. But foremost it's about learning and helping. WA is a great place for that. Since about one month I do a daily post called Today in History. Why did I start it? Because I hate writing. And by doing this I hope to become better at writing.

Hey Eric! Writing has never been my strong point. Writing a blog a day is a great idea. I'm aiming for every other day for now. Thanks for sharing!

I work at night keeping an eye on about 70 computer screen/sessions. And slowly going blind with these mainframe computer systems. I do what I can with WA, about 3 hours, and then about 5 hours of sleep during the day. I always tired. And I can't seem to get much of anything done.

I can relate to not getting enough sleep, and always feeling tired and behind on tasks.

Looking forward to reading more comments to see if someone has a solution that I haven't read about or thought of.

Hey Mike! Thanks for contributing to the conversation!

There's training on WA regarding Time Management. Here are a few of them....

I hope you can gain a helpful hint or two from them.

Hey John! Thanks for sharing! It can be a struggle to get things done. I find that I have to prioritize what's most important to me and my future. It's so easy to put things off sometimes. It seems to be a constant struggle.

Thanks for this information. As you can see I really do not have a plan, other than flying by the seat of my pants.

I normally do a bit here and there throughout the week, but mostly 8-9 hours a day, Saturday and Sunday.

I do a lot of reading, researching my niche, answering emails, commenting and even at times chasing the rabbit, so to speak.

I need a lot of help, lol! I'm totally at fault!

Thanks for the links.

Becky

I think I average 3 hours of sleep a night...lol..always have had lousy sleep, so trying to devote most of my time to WA! Need to get some more work on my webpage though...lol

Hey Terry! Interacting with the WA community is great! But you're right, working on our websites need to take priority! Thanks for commenting!

I usually work at night when everyone is asleep

It can be tough finding the time. Thanks for sharing, Pablo!

Generally l sleep less, and use this time for WA.

True that! :)

By just reading and responding to different concerns take half a day and even more. But I have to attend to my work and i have to leave some of the messages unanswered.

It's hard to find the balance sometimes.

If you feel the imbalance just sit, LOL.

:)

The best way to manage your time is to write down your tasks each day and the prioritize them

Hi there! When the list is HUGE, how do you know where to start with prioritizing? Thanks in advance!

Mikey

Do the most important first---things that have a deadline, the things you don't like to do before doing the things you do enjoy doing

I agree. I tend to be more effective that way.

I appreciate your input, Davida!
