I have not yet set up a leadpage to capture names and emails to build my own list (and that kind of "hurts") What I'm asking is:

How do I set it up to forward ppl to my

You need to set up a series of messages in your autoresponder, all of which give your optins more information about your offer. You can include a link to your offer in some of those messages, but concentrate on helping your optins to see how your offer will help them, how it is something they really need and how it will solve a problem in their lives. Don't be too heavy with the links. Hope this helps :)

Thank you :-) Don't know why I didn't think of putting the link in an email after opting in

I written a article that might could help you. You can read it if like
http://newwealthyaffiliate.com/sendlane-review/

Thanks Anthony; will have a look :-)

You can do that with an e-mail opt-in pop up service. Mail Munch is a good one to start with if you're looking for a free one.

I've found some good training here on WA for this. Here are the links

Free E-mail Opt In This one is paid but still good You can add the affiliate link into the opt-in message/package.

Hope that helps :)
Marlinda

Thanks; I'll check this out :-)

OK. Had a quick look. Good stuff, but not what I am asking about. I am spesifically wanting to know how to forward a person to the affiliate offer after first having given their name and email address for MY list.

It might be something I should ask the landing page provider perhaps......

Your autoresponder service or leadcapture service should allow you to forward to a custom page. As you are setting up your email form, there should be an option where you can specify Custom Page. That is the URL containing the affiliate link. I know Aweber contains this feature. My guess is others do as well.

Make sure that the affiliate link you are sending them to is relevant to the opt in form. Otherwise, you risk confusing the subscriber.

Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim :-) I am registered with Aweber so what you are saying is I can collect names and email for MY list and then forward ppl to another opt-in with the affiliate offer (they also building their list)

Yes, after the first page of setting up your email form, when you hit on the Go To Step 2 button, you'll see something called the Thank You Page. That is the page that you can set to your affiliate page.

Also, keep in mind that the Thank You page can be used to further connect with your readers. Sending them to an affiliate page has less of a chance of doing this. You may get a few sales, but if you develop your relationships, you have a greater potential to sell even more to them later.

Thank you so much :-)

So an email or emails would be better of course :-)

I have seen people saying they do not use it any longer due to speed issues. Others seem to like it. Can I have some honest opinions around this? Do you recommend SumoMe? Or sh

The only way to be sure is to use Google's tool. Other online tools are unreliable and you will get any value, it changes all the time. So use that tool with and without the plugin and you will know.

Great info; thanks :-)

Run a pingdom speedtest on your site with the plugin enabled. Then run another one with the plugin disabled, ideally deleted. See if it affects the load time. Sometimes you can visually see the difference.

Thanks :-)

When inviting ppl to "build a website for free", linking that directly to SiteRubix, is not that smart? We do not have an affiliate link to SiteRubix, right?

If I'm trying to promote "build a website for free" I usually direct people straight to siterubix. You will have an affiliate link for this. If you click the aeroplane icon in the top right hand corner, then select "links and tracking", you'll see your affiliate link direct for siterubix.

Hope that's helps.
Stephanie

Thank you!

you're welcome. Glad i could help

No your affiliate link is to Wealthy Affiliate, Site rubix is only available when you have created a wealthy affiliate account

Could you perhaps clarify? You say "only available after you have created a wealthy affiliate account". Which of course I already have . . .

I seem to remember having heard that it is not a good idea to write your blogposts in e.g. Word an then copy and paste it into Wordpress?

Does anyone know if it's ok or n

I usually write in Word, then I copy and paste and edit with headings and images. I like to have the basic structure in Word as I'm more used to it.

/Cat

Why not type directly into the WordPress editor and then backup your site using Tools > Export and WP Clone

Thx for the tip. I was thinking more in terms of writing more "freely" - maybe over time (not having to do that in the editor) and not so much about the backup part. Much appreciate the links though :-)

I do the same thing writing in a word document and pasting in WordPress so that in case I goof up in WordPress or something happens to WordPress, I still have all my work saved in a separate spot.

I write my posts in WORD, copy and paste in wordpress editor, but, doesn't look the same as in Word, then I edit, paragraphs, font size in Wordpress editor so that it looks pretty good & compatible with editor.
It's Ok Susan, What you're doing is like writing in an exercise book, correcting spelling errors, proof read there, before pasting your finished work on wordpress editor. That's fine & professional

I choose notepad and paste that text into wp. Far less issues when dressing out the content for me.

I found Word to be hard to use when importing to WP. I use Open Office and it works much better than Word. However, most of my writing is directly into WP Editor.

I write in the post editor and then copy the completed post into a doc for saving it. Otherwise formatting issues get time consuming.

I always write in Word first and I'm ok with it...

I usually write my posts in Word, but then I copy it to Notepad before copying into my site. This helps to remove all of the RTF formatting. You could always use the paste as text button in the Wordpress editor but I trust the Notepad method a little more.

Thanks for the tip :-)

I definitely second the notepad suggestion.

You can do it but Word has a different format than Wordpress so it wont come out exactly the same so you will have to adjust it once in Wordpress
