Don't Listen To The Devil On Your Shoulder!

I know what goes on in your mind. You're writing and you think. "Why do I keep doing this? Why am I writing blog after blog?" Then that little red devil with it's pitchfork climbs up on your shoulder and says "Yea. Why are you bothering? Let's go get drunk or let's sit and feel sorry for ourselves. Come on it'll be fun!"

The funny thing is we all have that little devil that pops up every now and again and it may be sitting on your shoulder right now. It's ok to shoo him off. The devil will go away if you tell it to. That little devil is your negative mindset that's telling you you're no good. You'll never amount to anything and you can't be successful. You might as well watch some more negativity on the news. The devil is everywhere but you don't have to succumb to him.

Get Your Head On Straight!

That's what I heard a lot growing up in the 70's. "Sit up straight. Get your head together!" These are all things many of us were taught growing up but guess what? You're grown up now. Your head is on straight. It's your choice to choose to be happy or not. And listening that devil on your shoulder isn't going to bring you happiness.

I challenge you to kick that devil to the curb when you're feeling down about anything. It's all in your head and it's not who you really are deep down inside. You're a tiger, a winner and a success. You know you are and you you have the abilities but you have to do what it takes to get to where you want to be. To be happy and independent. If I can do this anyone can!

Use What You Have To Boost Yourself!

As a kid my parents always thought I was a weird soul. And I was. I hated school. I wanted to surf and that's what I did every chance I could. It gave me goose bumps. I always felt most alive when I was covered by a wave head to toe buried in a tube. I never watched the news as a kid. And it was when I was happiest.

Use what you can to get out of the funk of writing daily or every few days whatever it be. Blast some old cheesy 80's music in your home office or some music that boost your spirits. It's there and it can help you to get in a better mood. This is what I do when I don't want to write and think why bother. Give it a try and turn off that bad news of the day in your head and on the tube. Be a kid again in your head. Bob your head up and down while your writing to some cheesy 80's positive music. Whatever works just do it!

Just Do It!

To know me you would probably think I'm pretty crazy at heart. I lived a crazy life. I have traveled the world in the military and actually surfed while in the Marines coming in second in a contest for 50 Marines on the whole east coast back in the 80's. (The guy who beat me got lucky lol) I have had my ups and downs but it was always up to me to find happiness. Finally, side lined from meningitis I almost gave up completely. Recovery was brutal but now I am back to skateboarding and fishing every week hunting that ultimate catfish.

Yesterday I woke up and said to myself "Just Do It!" I got in my trusty little Chevy Tracker that's old as dirt but the perfect fishing vehicle and drove to Kerr Lake in North Carolina and fished all day on this huge lake almost all to myself. I caught some big catfish and had a blast. But if I would have listened to that little devil on my shoulder it would have never happened. Same applies to WA. It's been two years and some change here working on my website and it now pays for my membership plus some. You can do it too. Tell yourself you won't give up and that you'll just do it!
