Stepping back and taking a look.

Yesterday I came close to pulling the plug on all of this. I was out fishing at one of my favorite lakes and realized over the past two years I have spent a ton of time working on my websites. I have had minimal success but has it been worth the time I have spent working? Sadly I have to say no. Being retired at an early age I have finally found the time to do what I want to do within my means but instead I chose to work on a website for probly a couple thousand hours so far. I could of spent this time doing something more creative or better for myself like exercising more or even packing up and heading back out to California to hang on the beach or joining some local club for veterans. Maybe volunteering to clean up the lakes. Why I put myself through some of the upsets in life I do I have no clue.

I would like to say I am going to keep plugging away but as the fishing season approaches and I look forward to that I wonder if I will be as motivated as I was last year at this time. I wonder if I will be motivated to even write anymore. As of now my boot camp site has reached an impressive 311 blog posts and ranks on Google 1st page but sometimes I honestly might as well be writing on a porta Jon wall.

I'm not writing this as a rant or a woe is me but just a reminder that sometimes its important to take a step back and reassess what we are doing. Doing the same thing over and over they say is insanity so I don't want to climb in that box. I am taking a step back to look at my achievements in the past two years. I want to see if they have helped me grow as a person. I don't want to live a selfish life always looking for a dollar and I want to spend my next whatever years positively moving forward and being happy instead of striving for what everyone else seems to be after. That to me is not being true to myself. So, that's where I am right now. I don't blog here often but the SWAG rules are to post weekly.

There it is.

Do you have a website about fishing or something you really enjoy?

Two years is a great dedication! Be proud to admit that stepping back will reinforce some new ideas and also not discount what you've already done.

You said it....take a much needed break to possibly other approaches that may bring on more response.

As you know, I'm plugging away at training, have not reached a point of knowing what will transpire when my WA site has reached a point of looking back to reflect. I look forward to supporting new ideas once I'm there, and offer insight on what seems to be working and have a feeling "video" is key alongside your content.

Often times, the greatest change happens as a result of someone becoming overly frustrated with the way things are, prompting them to find or create a better way!

Enjoy your break...

Carrie

Sometime it is good to take a break. When you return to whatever you were doing, you will have a different perspective about it. Enjoy your fishing and all the best.

You don't seem to be looking for a necessary income stream. In that case you have the option to quit.
Cheers, whatever you decide!

I can appreciate and respect where you are with things.

Thanks for sharing honestly.

I am sure you will obtain a happy, rewarding life for the years ahead whatever road/s you choose and that is what's important.

Maybe a break is in order. The work you invested in the website won't go away as long as you pay for domain and hosting.

Then, if you've had a chance to relax your mind, you may or may not find what you are looking for.

My writing this month has been way lower than I wanted but I've accomplished some other things that desperately needed be be taken care of.

Best wishes and have fun whatever you do.

Thanks for sharing:)

It's not only the money what is keeping me here, but then again, I love working at the computer, this is the life I prefer way above fishing

Thanks form sharing.

A good honest comment. It is interesting to note that I am experiencing similar feelings and I have not been here nearly as long as you have. My concerns are focused on generating income as I was not prepared to be out of work and I have not been successful in finding new work to date. Therefore spending time here, takes away from time that should be spent bringing in $ to pay the bills. A bit of a catch 22.
That being said I like the community here and I like the concept and what is taught. I think there is true value in belonging to WA.
I will continue as the success stories are out there and everyone deserves success in their life.

I agree. The platform is an amazing one. I just don't know if it clicks with my blue collar mindset which I have changed to the no collar mindset. Nevertheless for someone with some serious tenacity and know how I know it can be a winner. I'm just seeing that at my age maybe my priorities are different than a good majority.

Once you get bitten by thee writing bug it's hard to let go!

I appreciate your honesty, David.

There seems to be a consensus that everyone is on this platform for the exact same reason, which is a falsehood. I'm a firm believer in self-evaluation and striving to live a life that's authentic. That will often mean going against the grain. Not just against what society says is "right" but sometimes against the very things we thought would lead us in the direction we want to go.

That you told Kyle you were interested and was accepted into his SWAG program is incredible, so take in all that's given.

All the best to you David, wherever your journey leads.

Thanks. I question many things in life. Must be a 50+ thing as most everything else I seemed to have done. Now its more of an effective use of time thing.

Well, maybe I'll be doing a lot more questioning of things now that I've hit the 50 club!!! As long as all that questioning doesn't prevent me from taking action, I'm good.
