How To Stay Motivated While Writing Blogs

I remember years ago as a 17 year old Marine in boot camp in San Diego I came in a shy hesitant young man who had his mind more on surfing than actually earning a living at anything. But I thought I knew it all. I could surf like a rock star, had cool friends and loved hanging out and going to the teeny bop clubs.

Bootcamp was a rude awakening with the lights turning on at 0430 in the morning, trashcan lids banging, screaming drill instructors screaming we had five minutes to be dressed and outside. Once outside it was the daily routine of push ups, bends and thrust and DI's screaming in your ear. It was brutal.

As the years went by after the Marine Corps I found myself losing motivation in life from working jobs that were less than satisfying but I had to pay bills. I gained weight and became sluggish and didn't really want to do much but hang out. Everything I did seemed like a have to instead of a want to.

Now on to today. I have always been an Irish stubborn guy who never really knew when to just stop and watch the grass grow but eventually my push in life turned into a retired guy at 50 who had worked too much and never did what I wanted to do. Until now. Now I do what I want to do and it's brought back those early feelings of boot camp in the Marine Corps. Those feelings of pushing myself further than I thought I could go. To push to create content on my site. To travel to unknown places in my pursuit of the biggest catfish I can find. And to push myself to get outside of myself and become part of something bigger. And I can say the Wealthy Affiliate has helped me to pursue life with more passion.

I challenge you to do a boot camp on yourself. Much like the boot camp lessons here it will take determination and a willingness to learn. Connect with others to help you and to never give up on your dreams. It's been decades since I have been out of the Marine Corps but I still value the lessons I learned. And that was to be true to yourself, to help those in need and to uphold high morals and ethics. With that you can achieve greatness. Apply those traits here and you can't help but succeed!

You know....I was thinking there was something deeper in your motivational forecast... ha!, You held on to that key "boot camp" experience and turned it into self-proclaimed success!

It's such a life lesson to hide behind the difficult tasks in life, cause for many reasons, people stall and think they cannot achieve it, again, for so many reasons... time, am I wasting my time, I have no time, and on and on. WA has taught me so much and love to see how it benefits others. It really does take "risk" to encourage yourself to take bigger leaps, and so learning what it takes to get you there is your first step to the unknown. Thanks for sharing and hope you are doing well!

Haha! You got me figured out.:)

You bet-cha! :)

Thank you Surfdude for sharing your story, your years of service and your sound advice. You are much appreciated more than you know.
