Are You in A Bucket of Crabs ?
You may find that as you begin to excel in sales or in most other things , some people around you may start sending signals that they like you just the way you are, even though there may be room for improvement.
In fact, as you begin to achieve consistent success and profits, hanging on to your old colleagues can be a problem. You have to be aware of the cellophane ceiling. That is the invisible roof you bump your head against every time you try to set the higher goals necessary to grow and to prosper.
Why are You Working Soo Much?
This ceiling is created as associates or friends say things like: “Why are you working so hard and somuch? Are you a workaholic”?ch
Or “I can't believe that you are so motivated by money. I'm sure not going to slave for the dollar; I want to enjoy life! Be aware of the cellophene ceiling and try too break through it. Once you do you will establish a new peer group with new standards, higher goals and bigger dreams.
Is your work environment uplifting?
Michael Jeffreys, a trainer and noted speaker, describes the phenomenon by telling a story about crabs
He observes that if you put one crab into a pot, it will escape. However, if you put several crabs into a pot, none are able to climb to freedom. Jeffreys says that as soon as one crab starts to scale the side of the pot, all the other crabs grab onto it and drag it down. If you find yourself in an environment that isn't uplifting, ask yourself if you are sitting in a bucket of crabs. And is it the place you really want to be in. And what can you do to climb out of that Bucket of Crabs.
My plans are to stay away from Crabs, how about you?
