Paralysis!

Whenever I start a new project, I seem to suffer from paralysis. I did this all through school. It happens at work. It even happens with my various hobbies. I start to think about what I need to do and everything just rushes in on me. Then, poof! I can't seem to move past the thinking stage. I become paralyzed from the realization of everything that needs to be done. I over think everything. When I finally start on the project, I start to think when I've done isn't good enough and feel as though I need to start all over.

I don't suffer from procrastination. I suffer from wanting what I do to be perfect the first time I do it. Ultimately, this does lead to procrastination. If there is a deadline attached to a project, and after a myriad of tries, miraculously I am able to crank something out - at least most times there is some quality to the finished product.

I wish I could overcome this. I was always envious of people who could layout everything they were going to do, step-by-step. I never saw them sweat over any of it. Either they were in that much control, or they were exceptionally well organized. Me? Well, there have been times when it wasn't until the eleventh hour that I was able to pull it off. I remember a paper in college I had to write and I had no idea what it was I was going to write about. The night before the paper was due, I actually dreamed that I was writing the paper. When I woke up the next morning, I jumped up out of bed, and grabbed my laptop. I remembered what I was writing in my dream. I turned in my paper and I ended up with an A. Relief!

The whole point of this is the fact that I'm creating my website and I'm at this awful point of paralysis. I have the ideas, but I'm afraid it's not good enough. It won't be perfect. Here's hoping for a dose of inspiration from my dreams and I'll know what to write on those blank pages I am often staring at.

That is why the lessons here are in step by step format.

Start on lesson one and move to the next one when you have finished that first one.

DO NOT LET THINGS GET PILED UP!

Do what some people call 'putting blinders on' Only see what is right in front of you. then do it!

This is the only way to eliminate this 'Paralysis by analysis'

I have a similar problem, but I usually get started and then get the analysis paralysis. I get to point of having to make a decision and then I get stuck because I can see benefits from all of the options, so I can't decide which one to pick! So frustrating. And it definitely leads to procrastination while I wait for decision making lightning to strike.

I'd recommend treating yourself to a copy of The Spirit of Kaizen http://a.co/5mzohGG !

I'll check it out. Thanks!

You're most welcome! :)
